Re: New TV Series to watch
Anyone watch the last few episodes of The Office? I haven't watched it in years, but I have the last 5 episodes from this final season - thought it might be something to watch on a rainy day, as I enjoyed the show when Carrell was the boss. Worth watching?

Re: New TV Series to watch
I thought this season has generally been better than last season, which was pretty terrible. I mostly kept watching because I'd already seen all the other seasons, so why stop now? There are still some pretty funny moments, although the show definitely peaked in seasons two and three.

Re: New TV Series to watch
So I finished S1 of Friday Night Lights, and you guys were correct; I thought it was fantastic. It's a bit of a stretch with the tall/lanky/skinny Taylor Kitsch being the bad-ass fullback, and apparently the only guys who catch passes were him and Smash (TB); however, the football scenes weren't that big of a issue otherwise. Despite the advice of a couple guys here, I started (and not skipped) S2, and so far so good for the first episode.
ABC sure can fuck up a good concept with a TV show, the SHIELD series looks like it will be right next to "V" in the TV graveyard; I hope I'm wrong. Regarding Agent Paulson, I saw something on one of those Comic Book Movie Nerd sites saying something to the effect that Paulson's death was a rouse by Nick Fury to inspire The Avengers into action.
Bates Motel on AMC is pretty awesome; fantastic cast, great acting, lots of somewhat awkward exchanges between Norman/Mom, and a surprisingly good amount of hot young chicks. Even though the show is set in modern times, there are lots of nice subtleties about the Psycho movie ie Norma still wearing those old dresses while texting on an Ipone.
Wife and I are VERY much looking forward to the next season/case of AMC's The Killing, I think it's coming out in June.

Re: New TV Series to watch
I've watched the last 2 episodes of the Office. I stopped watching when Michael Scott left-- because the show just got bad, after that. The whole Jim and Pam thing is tiresome. You know they aren't breaking up, but they had to throw a wrench in, just to make you wonder. I'll watch the last episode, because I've seen the majority of the series. I just want to see how they'll end it.
I watched the first episode of HBO's Family Tree. The way it's shot reminds me of another show-- but it's escaping my mind right now. First episodes are always the telling if I'm going to like a show or not. You get introduced to a monkey, who is used to express a characters internal feelings. By the end of the episode (30mins), you get the premise of how the show is going to go. The last scene cracked me up. You can see where the show title comes in.Your body is my ballpoint pen, and your mind is my new best friend.

Re: New TV Series to watch
If you can enjoy Season 2, more power to you. I watched the whole season myself, but it's not terribly important compared to every other season and a lot of the stuff that happens isn't major in terms with the rest of the series. It also just stops due to the writer's strike, so there's no conclusion.
edit: basically what I really wanna get across is don't quit the show if season 2 starts to get slow and you aren't enjoying it anymore. If that happens, just skip right to season 3.
And in FNL the football is EASILY the worst part of the series. There's a hail mary every single game, none of the WR's catch a pass until they introduce WR's as main characters in seasons 3 and 5, the defense is non-existent... I could go on and on.

Apparently they're bringing back 24 for a 12 episode compressed series.

Riggins getting to be a high school senior 3 straight years was amazing.
Any scene where Smash either prays or his mama talks is pretty awesome

Re: New TV Series to watch
I zipped through all of Weeds. All who said it gets terrible after season 2, were correct. I found myself not caring about any of the characters. They would just completely drop story lines, throughout the entire series. I ended up having the show on, but not really watching it.
They were all f' ups. Pretty hard to have any sympathy for Nancy, in particular. The youngest son (Shane) turns out to be completely psycho.
The original concept was good, but to maintain it, was impossible. -- Would not recommend.Your body is my ballpoint pen, and your mind is my new best friend.

Yeah I feel ya, I'm halfway through Season 7 and wish I just stopped when they left Agrestic. Nancy is a certified cunt.
