Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Taken 2 was horrible. Horrible.
Saw Cloud Atlas last night and I came out of it a bit unsatisfied. As an American movie goer, I am conditioned to like happy endings, which it did have. The issue I had with this wasn't the ambiguous nature of the whole thing, but rather the fact that the viewer never really gets a chance to take a breath and process. I am still thinking about it, though, which I appreciate for my money. I just kind of expected more, I guess 6/10. Argo is next.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Rock of Ages.
Terrible while watching it. Dry heaved a few times. Tom Cruise actually made it watchable. However, thinking back on it...wasn't that bad. Therefore, I'll move it from a 5/10 to a 6/10...solid D.
The hopes for the movie is it becomes a modern day Grease. And even though that was cheesy, it had staying power (probably because most films back then were cheesy).

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I watched four movies today I havent seen.
The Campaign: Really disappointed. Not funny at all really. C+
Thats My Boy: Had low expecations, and I thought it ended up being funnier than The Campaign which was unexpected. B-
5 Year Engagement: Not bad. I liked it. I like Jason Segel though. B
and the finale....
Jeff, Who Lives at Home: Wow. More people need to see this movie. Underrated for sure. Probably up there in my top 2 favorite movies ever. A+

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
it was a comedic drama and used 2 comedic actors as the leads. If you want to say they were trying to show their depth, I'd reason with that, but there were plenty of jokes written into the script and they just weren't funny

I didn't go into it thinking it was going to be comedic in anyway. I figured based on the commercials it was going to be a deeper movie, and I like movies like that but it is just preference I guess. This and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are two of my favorite movies. I figured Jeff Who lives at Home was going to be more depressing than it was. I almost didn't want to watch it because I thought it would be really depressing, but it was actually kind of uplifting, especially at the end.

Argo, 8-10. Thought it was really good. Doesn't move too quick, doesn't move too slow. Affleck keeps getting better and better and you can feel the tension throughout the movie and just get that feeling of how awful that situation had to have been.
Good flick.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
i'm currently working my way through classics that were released when i was too young to fully appreciate them
fargo 9/10 expectations going in were pretty high due to the critical acclaim and it didn't disappoint, absolutely fantastic from start to finish.
lost in translation 10/10 complete masterpiece. bill murray was obv great, but scarlett johansson really impressed as well given how young she was at the time. really glad i waited to watch this because the idea that "nothing happens" (which isn't true, obv) probably would've turned me off

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Argo- 8.5/10 Great movie. Few movies present true incredible stories and can really make you feel the intensity. This was Apollo 13esque.
Flight- 5/10 Meh. The trailers made it seem like it was a hero who lost his life as a victim of circumstance. Instead it's just about alcoholism. The main plot line of the legal battle was great (Cheadle and Goodman are awesome in this movie), but they spent way too much time away from it to focus on his love story and other bullshit. The trailer had a huge disconnect from the film and that's where this movie failed."Better look out dude.. Akronite just pissed out your arguments entirely.. They're laying over there in the 'epic fail' corner, soaking in logical urine. You better get a towel, bro."
