Almost too hard to tell at this point, at least for the GOP. If they lose this election, the direction of the party is just very uncertain - who will be the leaders of the party? Will they move towards the center or will they move further right? There are a lot of really big questions that need answered.
I could see Rubio moving closer to the center and getting the nod - if that's the way the GOP goes. Otherwise, I have no idea.
EDIT - To Damage's point, Christie doesn't seem likely IMO. He's not really doing that well in NJ, and he'll never be able to win over hardcore conservatives. I think he's interesting though. No way Clinton runs IMO, she'll be almost 70 in 2016.

Thousands of Americans died in a war we entered because George W. Bush lied/had terrible information about Iraq having WMD. He got re-elected.
