Re: wknr announcement
I happen to like Je'rod quite a bit. He gets a bad rap, for what I really have no clue. He's intellegent, well articulated and has played in more NFL games than Dustin Fox could dream of. Not to mention he has won multiple Super Bowls on the Patriots. IMO, when I hear people rag on him, it sounds like the teacher in Peanuts. Ignorance.

Re: wknr announcement
Count how many times he says, "But at the same time...". He's awful. At best, he pretends to be "well articulated". 850 is an abortion. Was getting ready for a meeting yesterday, turned on KNR cause I cannot stand Booms, and the first thing up was a Joebee's plug. Decided showering in silence was the optimal path.

Re: wknr announcement
We're going to have to agree to disagree here. I don't see that at all. One thing I can't stand is uneducated ragging on Cleveland teams, which happens so very often on the radio. Je'rod brings a unique perspective and I think it is fine that he uses them, "But, at the same time.." because every scenario has at least two separate vantages. So much for the "Peanuts teacher" thing I said as I'm responding to the first dissent.

I mean, listening to Hammer and Rizzo attempt to talk about the Cavs is downright awful. The Hooligans are pretty much out of touch with modern society. I still listen, though, just to be in touch with the beat of Cleveland sports.

Re: wknr announcement
This thread was bumped because of the news about Chris Fedor. Bob Finnan wrote a column about it and other local media news.
WKNR-AM 850 parted ways with Chris Fedor last Friday.
It was a bit of a surprising move by the sports talk station. Not long ago, Fedor was thought to be one of the station's bright, young stars, a group that included Aaron Goldhammer, Will Burge and perhaps T.J. Zuppe.
Zuppe will take Fedor's spot on the popular afternoon show, "The Hooligans," along with Bruce Hooley and Greg Brinda. Fedor was also the station's NFL draft and fantasy football expert.
Fedor, 29, was told on Friday morning by WKNR program director Jason Gibbs and general manager Keith Williams he was being fired.
Fedor didn't want to go into details of his dismissal. He said he was with the station for almost seven years after a very humble beginning.
He started at WKNR as a part-time board op, who worked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekends.
He was working at Marc's at the time and wanted to get his foot in the door of the radio business.
"I was very happy with what I was able to accomplish," Fedor said. "I earned every opportunity that I was given."
Fedor and "The Hooligans" went on the air on Oct. 1, 2011.
"The show was starting to take off," he said. "We were very happy with it. We were all settling into what our role was."
Fedor said he was going through a stage of self-evaluation.
"What could I have done better?" he said.
"I love Cleveland. I love Cleveland sports. It would be a dream come true if I can stay here and in the business."
He realizes he rubbed some people the wrong way with his negativity. Former colleague Tony Rizzo jokingly called him, "Negative Ned."
"I couldn't control how people responded to me," he said. "I'd rather be hated for who I was than be loved for someone I wasn't. I was always well-prepared, put the effort in and had passion for my job.
"I was passionate about the things I said. Sometimes it wasn't popular and rubbed people the wrong way. I was always true to myself. I was never faking anything. Hopefully, people respected me for it."

Re: wknr announcement
Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd bump this since the last news was about Fedor...
Thanks to everyone for the kind words on my new opportunity with 92.3 The Fan. I'm really excited about it.

Maybe a mod can change this thread to Cleveland Sports Talk Radio or something along those lines?

Re: wknr announcement
He is completely unwavering to the point of annoying. He still thinks that Kevin Kolb is a great talent and just needs the opportunity and he will not give that up.
I wasn't happy to see him get fired, just because he does love his job; however, I'm not real into his views. He is really into putting the Browns/Cavs in positions where he can slight them regardless of the moves they make.

Re: wknr announcement
hmmmm so they bring on someone who was terrible on another station hoping he's not quite as terrible on theirs???
Oh well, I was hoping the fan would be a good alternative to knr when they first came on, but after giving them a try, have come to the conclusion that knr is not as bad as I thought.

Re: wknr announcement
Sports talk hosts will have opinions based on how management tells them to have opinions. See how the ESPN talking heads spew their crap. They don't do it because they believe it most of the time, they do it to get the best ratings.
Clevelanders love homers...see Austin Carr...so if you have a show in Cleveland, you better cater to that audience.
