Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
How many games have you watched? I've watched every Portland game for the most part this season. The Trailblazers have come out and said they have no drawn plays for him, so most of his points have to come off of offensive boards. Every game he shoots at least 2-3 jumpers a game, which is something he's also improved on

Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
Dude has 20 points and 14 rebound potential if he played 35 plus minutes a game.

Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
I didn't wait 9 months to do anything. I saw the success JJ was having in Portland after a terrible year in Sacramento so I figured instead of creating a whole new topic about an ex Cavs player why not post in a thread that already existed. And why can't we discuss Hickson? We talk about Andre Drummond, Jonas Valanciunas and other players who were never Cavaliers all the time. Theres even have a Lebron Safari thread for crying out loud! A player who hasn't worn the wine & gold since 2010. So I don't understand why we can't talk about JJ especially since it's relevant to what that says about our gm Chris Grant who I'm not high on at all. But that's a whole nother discussion.

Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
Therein lies the problem with J.J. Consistency.
Before them 9 straight double doubles, J.J played all of 12 minutes (coach's decision: "We had a good thing going") in an OT win in Charlotte, going reboundless with 2 points. Before that, he had a pedestrian 11 & 5 against us, and 11 & 3 in Boston.
Yes, he's been a double double machine, but I still see way too many of these statlines:
0-7, 2 Pts, 8 Rebounds
12 Min, 1-5, 2 Pts, 0 Rebs
11 Pts, 5 Rebs in 35 Min
11 Pts, 3 Rebs in 26 Min
9 Pts, 8 Rebs
10 Pts, 4 Rebs
3 Pts, 7 Rebs
5 Pts, 5 Rebs
3-10, 7 Pts, 11 Rebs
... to believe he's truly turned a corner.
We've seen him put up great #'s in stretches before, this is nothing new.Last edited by MoFlo; 12-29-2012 at 07:16 PM.

Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
Certainly we can talk about Hickson, but camakazee came out of hibernation and nailed exactly what you're doing. Don't go gravedigging, spewing out an "I told you so" then cry "haters just gonna hate" .... lol
As MoFlo pointed out, JJ having a good streak on offense and/or on the boards is nothing new. What will be new is if he stops giving up as much on D as he's contributing on O and on the boards.

Re: The decline of JJ Hickson
Hickson turned into a solid player. If you won't give him credit for that, then he turned into a good rebounder and a respectable scorer.... and he still has room to grow.
Meanwhile Casspi can't get playing time on a bottom 5 team in the NBA and the Sacramento Kings are still a TERRIBLE team with even more front office drama and headcase players than ever. They have to hit on a star player in the draft for us to ever see that pick. They are just that bad and have been for years now.
That's really all that needs to be said IMO. But since JJ *supposedly* said he wanted max money, all bets are off for the JJ haters..... since, ya know, we would have HAD to pay him max money since he said he wanted it.
