Re: Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/2...en-back-to-nba
The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat have emerged as the leaders to land former No. 1 pick Greg Oden.
The 7-foot Oden, who hasn't played since Dec. 5, 2009 due to multiple knee injuries, is hoping to take a visit down to Miami to meet with Pat Riley and the Heat in the next week, a source told CBSSports.com.
Miami would likely offer a deal for minimum salary while the Cavs could pay up to nearly $4 million. The Boston Celtics are another team that has expressed interest, but the source said that Oden is leaning towards making a comeback with either Cleveland or Miami.
Oden was the top pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, but has had multiple knee surgeries. He's currently working out in both Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis -- and expects to be ready for the season-opener next season.
Oden, 25, has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 82 career NBA games. He is coming off his third microfracture knee surgery back in February 2012.Cavs Draft Board

Re: Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)
Short of the possible substance abuse issues, does anyone have any recent reports on his current physical status? Can the guy run? Has he been working out at all? Has he been working on any part of his game?

Re: Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)
I've been wondering about this quite a bit while following this thread. Rehabbing a major surgery takes a lot of time (and money). To rehab an injury to the point one can play a professional sport is a whole new ballgame. I'm curious whether he's actually been able to devote that much time to the process while taking classes. At least if he were on a roster he'd have use of the team facilities and it'd be his job to work out. Is he given the same kind of access an OSU player would?

The Cavs could offer up to $4M? Interesting. If that's true, I definitely expect him to sign with us.
Bringing in Oden and Noel next season should be nice!

Honestly, I'm pretty scared to see this guy run up and down the court. I don't wanna see him get another nasty injury.

Re: Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)
He might follow the easy route at a championship. Despite a big diff in money, him playing 12-15mpg on that team at a decent level is already an upgrade at the 5 for them.
I like to think depsite missing significant time, he is an upgrade for teams over the Joel Anthonys & Jermaine O'Neals of the world. Just play him 12mpg in year 1, 15 in year 2, and top him out at 20 mpg in year 3 and beyond. The longer you rehab him in your system the more likely he is to succeed and stay healthy. His health is a long term project that may pay dividends when were ready to compete.
That being said, I cant help but think were gonna get Chip Kelly'd again.Wiggins Watch 2014

Re: Greg Oden interview (plans to come back for 2013)
Cleveland Clinic, closer to home, more money, more playing time, closer to OSU, no expectations, no need to rush. Only thing Miami has going for it is the "contender" spiel. Would it really be wise for a recovering alcoholic to live in Miami while he tries to resurrect his career?
