Re: NBA 2K13
Speaking of defensive setups:
I'm playing one of my buddies in my online association, and all he does is chuck threes with James Harden and Ty Lawson. Its basically his whole offense. I don't have much offensive fire power, but I have the best defensive team in the league with Rondo, KG, MKG, and Tyson Chandler in my lineup. For whatever reason Lawson and Harden rarely miss three's, so I was just curious what type of defensive effort is best to defend this type of play.
Normally I stick with man-to-man.. But if I need to switch it up, I go to a 3-2 zone.

Re: NBA 2K13
Whenever someone goes in for a layup... hold your the players hands up and more than the likely they'll miss if you're in front. There's actually another really good trick for this.. but I rarely see it used.. so, I'll keep it to myself.
Edit: this was a response to a post on the last pg. about superstars

Re: NBA 2K13
I usually get beat by the "bad" teams (Washington, Philly, Sacramento) more often than the superstar teams because I don't know what to expect.
I'd rather play the Heat over the Wizards, just because I know to plan for a ton of Wade/LeBron drives and Ray Allen threes.

Re: NBA 2K13
Go to defensive settings and change it to "play tight." You could also play a "pressure shooters" defense. You could also put KG on Harden and force him to drive if you're good at contesting shots with Chandler. Depends how fast KG is in the game, I've never played with him. In association mode I have Josh Smith and using him against Nick Young worked out pretty well. Young is basically the second coming of Jordon in this game even though he's 75 overall.
Does everyone just play myplayer / online? I find association mode a lot more fun since you get to actually build the team and make changes. Games are also a lot more realistic, as in the opposing team not just chucking 3s and using star players the whole time. After two years of trades (without trade override because it feels like cheating) / FA my starting lineup is Irving, Waiters, Wilson Chandler, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard.

Re: NBA 2K13
I've been on a roll with the Cavs lately. My starting lineup:
KI
Josh Selby
Dion (gee if I'm playing Melo, LBJ, KD)
TT
Zeller
Selby is a big time 2k sleeper. Easy to shoot 3s with and finishes with authority. Dion is tricky to use, just as inconsistent as real life..but I like being able to attack with 3 guys. Speights would start if he didnt become completely fatigued after 3 minutes.
A lot of times opponents will start zoning once I shred their D with 3 penetrators.. Then I just throw in Ellington or CJ and bury corner 3s.
Kyrie is downright nasty. Euro step and spin move layups are pretty much unstoppable and can pull-up from anywhere on a dime better then anyone else in the game IMO.
I like to mix up defensive looks a lot. As mentioned, 1-3-1 is great for stopping cheesers. I find it best to gamble and jump passing lanes since we all know how anemic the cavs frontline is in a half court setting. TT is rated too low but he usually comes up with clutch rebounds for me.
Nothing more fun in this game then watching kids lose their shit after being rolled by the Cavs.

Re: NBA 2K13
I'm getting tired of all of the jokers online. I've been playing for like four hours today, and the only teams I've played are the Heat, Thunder, Lakers, Warriors, and Nets. Really annoying.

I'm getting on in an hour and would love to play somebody who's not douchey.

Re: NBA 2K13
Anybody into playing the MyPlayer blacktop? I ball on it all the time and hate playing with kids who can't rotate on D or share the ball. I'm a 98 overall SF who can do just about anything. I really enjoy running a team but can also play on a wing and off the ball.

There's always somebody in My Player that I can't guard and in 2K13 it's Rudy Gay. Screw Rudy Gay.

Re: NBA 2K13
Why do you play them at all? I've actually never played any of those teams online because when we are selecting teams I hover over my Cavs and wait for the other guy to pick his team. More often than not, the guy will pick a lower rated team because he seems I'm picking the Cavs. I only have to back out two or three times before someone picks a legit matchup.

Re: NBA 2K13
Garnett isn't that quick, but he's my main offensive threat. Just love posting him up or doing a pick and roll with Rondo for easy buckets. If he is used that much defensively, it'll kill his energy level for the offensive end.
I'm likely going to switch into playing Harden and Lawson tight, and then switching into a 3-2 zone if he's having success.
I play it all the time, in year 2018 actually.
Well, I simmed a lot.. Usually sim till the playoffs and just play them out. I had LeBron on the team at once with Irving, but ended up letting him walk in free agency when I wanted to re-sign other guys like Harrison Barnes, Irving, and Dwight Howard to max deals. Love building a team, though, it's always enjoyable.

Re: NBA 2K13
SO i took you advice and went to the 1-3-1 is is quite possibly one of the most entertaining things I have watched when the head are held to 29 points in one game.

Re: NBA 2K13
I just really now noticed, but Alonzo Gee's face looks like it didn't get the last layer of polish and finishing touches. Go check that out next time you play.

Re: NBA 2K13
What is the best way to stop Lebron? I've got a 2 player association going with my friend. I'm using 1-3-1 and lock down paint. My best defenders are Dwight Howard, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Kenneth Faried. I'm doing ok on the perimeter but just getting abused in the paint, mostly with up and under moves, the double spin layup/dunk, and just close range shots.
