Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Otto Porter is starting to seduce me a bit and it's becoming difficult to resist. I don't know if I like him top 3-5 yet, but I like him a lot.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Otto Porter on ESPN right now...the kid is perfect for what were doing here. If I'm Grant, even if I get a real high pick and can get McLemore or Noel, I'd draft them and trade down for Porter. We CANNOT miss this pick, and adding redundancy when in reality, there is no major drop off in talent here, they ALL have big flaws. Porter is carrying the Hoyas right now... He defends very well, he shoots the three very well, he is a good passer, can handle the ball a bit, and can play off the ball. Good size and length, good athleticism... Alex Len is next on my big board, he not only fills a glaring hole, but has the talent and upside to form an elite complimentary front court with TT. Noel will never be defending centers like Gasol, Howard, Cousins, Drummond, even guys like Hibbert and Noah... He is smaller than Anthony Davis... Like, significantly. We already have our offensively limited, shot blocking, defensive power forward. Len can fill out, he HAS shoulders. A lineup of Irving, Waiters, Porter, Thompson, and Zeller can grow together, and even if Zeller is a career backup, we can look to fill that starting role with our gobs of cap space and tradable assets

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Porter if we draft 5-10. I really like his length. Lack mobility and ups hurt his nba potential though.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Porter...draft a small SF who does everything average. Great idea. If we didn't need a SF, no one would care about this guy.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Look he isn't my favorite player in the draft and I'm not claiming he's going to be an all-star but let's get some shit straight:
6'8 with a wingspan as large as his isn't 'small.' You just made a baseless and untrue claim.
-He's a well-above average passer.
-He's a good shooter right now.
-He has a really good mid-range game.
-He's a strong rebounder
-He's a good finisher down low
What are you talking about here?Last edited by MGMT; 02-16-2013 at 01:00 AM.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Porter is like Brandon Roy. He's going to rise as we get closer to the draft.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Porter isn't exciting to a lot of people because he doesn't jump high and make highlight reel dunks and blocks. Production isn't sexy, apparently. Porter will be one of the best player's out of this draft class imo, I think he will come in and be productive wherever he ends up. I would take him before McLemore and Muhammed if I were the Cavs, better fit and will likely be easier to re-sign when the time comes.
Thought this was interesting. Quick stat comparison, who's who?

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Good stuff. I like Porter and Len quite a bit as well. I actually think Alex Len could be a Nikola Vucevic type of center (offensively), which would fit great here with how this team is currently constructed. I like that Porter would really complement our guards and provide a massive upgrade at a position of need.....plus he seems like a Grant pick. This is from ESPN...

Porter is quietly putting up a season worthy of consideration for the Wooden Award. With very little talent around him, he has led Georgetown to eight wins in their past nine games in Big East play. He not only is carrying the offensive load, but does all of the other little things on both ends of the floor that help his team win. He would be a terrific fit on a team like the Cavs.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
Just based on stats, SF who does everything average is a more efficient scorer, a better rebounder, better passer, and a better defender than 2 of the supposed top players in college basketball. Plus, he's only a few months older than Shabazz and atleast a few months younger than Ben McLemore and he's not undersized.

Re: 2013 NBA Draft
It's weird that Porter is a 19 year old sophomore and McLemore is a 21 year old freshman (red shirt, but still).
