It was said earlier, but that off-the-backboard oop to Dion was incredibly impressive. To catch it one-handed and avoid hitting his head on the rim in one motion... not bad at all.

I dont get the hate on Dion. He seems pretty negatively percieved if the boos indicated any sort of public opinion.

They only did that because his dunk wasn't impressive.

@JasonLloydABJ: #Cavs accounted for 79pts, or 27% of pts scored tonight. "We’re on the rise,” Waiters said. “Watch out the next couple years. We’re coming"
Dion thinking about the name on the front of the jersey. Love it.

They were chanting for Parsons to dunk and Dion didn't pass the ball to him, that's why they booed. He got it right the next possession.

Couldn't disagree more strongly. Dion has the potential to be an impact player on both ends of the floor while being a good playmaker/ballhandler at the SG position. Only a handful of shooting guards are very good in all three areas such as Kobe and Wade. Waiters can also score both inside and out, adding further to his completeness at his position. Drummond projects to be good defensively and at rebounding but is unlikely to ever be an impact player offensively. Strong defensive big man are not so rare in the league today (we have two on our roster in Varejao and TT for instance). Thus Waiters projects as more of a complete player, and having such an all around skill set for his position, actually is the more unique/rare talent.

The Pistons got a steal at the 8th pick no doubt, and wouldn't have been a bad pick for us either, but we got what I feel will be an excellent player in Waiters and maybe, just maybe, could end up being the best player in the draft.

I had no idea Dion had that kind of ups. Really didn't. Just speaks to how talented he is. Raw, but very, very talented. Man, I tell ya, days like this remind me we're heading in the right direction. To see our guys Waiters, Thompson, that other guy, and to a much lesser extent Zeller looking so good out there. The future is definitely bright.

One thing I liked about the Rising All Star for Dion is he went 11-12 and didn't take a single three. Our big 3 shined in that game and I didnt expect much from Zeller just cool he got to be there and get the experience. I think Dion 11-12 and Thompson 9-10 leave with a little added confidence heading into the 2nd half of the season.

As he reaches levels of fitness he's never been at ,,and playing on days his legs are fresh, we see more and more from Dion physically that we weren't sure he had within him... but just suspected. It will be interesting to see him come back next year, hopefully, after an offseason of continued development both physically and in his overall game, because he could really display another gear yet .. To be honest, all four young kids have lots left within them to develop on a physical level, and I'd like to see that happen. In Tyler's case, it has too, quite frankly.

You might mean in other forms of fitness but if we're talking about his hops you must not have seen his highschool age highlights. Even back then he was getting up there at a level we still haven't seen from him in a Cavs uniform, even last night. His body has filled out more since then and I don't know if he gets up quite that high right now still. If footage of him from a couple years ago is any indication, he's just scratching the surface with the stuff you saw last night.

That must be like abstract art that I don't like or understand.

The kid looked like an absolute high flyer last night.

I hope we did, but what do you think Dion has actually done in his career that demonstrates this potential?

Drummond is much more raw and more younger, yet there's no question that his rebound and block rate are elite for a rookie. He may be a one trick pony on offense, but that one trick (slamming any ball near the hoop in to the hoop) is a very good one.

If Dion constantly improves across the board year after year perhaps he can get where you and we all hope ... but right now there's nothing he's doing statistically at a high level.

Absolutely. I've been saying this from the beginning, Dion's athleticism has been severely underrated by posters here. He will absolutely have elite athleticism after an offseason or two of an NBA fitness/workout regimen.

Even just as the season is going along and he's getting in better shape his athleticism is increasing. Can't imagine what he can do after an offseason of NBA workouts.

And besides his jumping/quickness abilities having the chance to become elite, his strength will increase. Wade and Rose finish so well around the rim because they're strong enough to absorb contact and finish because of elite strength. And let's face it, the kid is already built like a brick house. He's going to be an animal after starting a proper offseason of an NBA strength and conditioning program.

Nah, they just booed him because he didn't give the ball to Chandler Parsons. He made up for it by eventually giving it to him on the last possession. Nothing to do with any negativity toward his play or his dunk.
