Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
Halo 4 is the best Halo since the original.
We must accept the we cannot relive the same classic Halo moments, like playing the Silent Cartographer mission for the first time, or 3-shotting players while spawn-trapping them in their base. It is acceptable for the developers to want to progress the series and modify it if that is done right. Finally after all these sequels, this new Halo was done right.
Sure you can think back fondly to the "level 50" system of Halos 2 and 3, the BxR button tricks, the noob combo, deployable weapons and invulnerable vehicles. You can still demand Halo:CE's pistol but you'd be missing the point. For the first time a Halo sequel is a great standalone game in its own right.
There are no game-breaking cheating mechanics like in Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer (standby, bridging). There are no poorly implemented melee mechanics like in Halo 2 (where for no reason a melee lunge would miss and you'd go through the opponent). There are no outrageous melee range. There is no superjumping glitches. There is no laggy netcode that trivializes melee combat like in Halo 3. There is no Bungie that mocks and derides its playerbase. Oh you don't remember that? That's what they did for years against the MLG and "competitive" crowd (ie people who didn't want to spawn with a pea-shooter and a plasma pistol). Now MLG kids are in the freaking official players guide. A modified level 50 system will be implemented within the next few months, a testament to 343's willingness to listen to the playerbase.
So what we have is a game that as it is fleshed out in the coming months will have no nagging deficiencies, no annoying developers and design decisions, but instead provide well-rounded and enjoyable gameplay. It's probably the least glitchy Halo yet (right now I can think of one map-wall glitch and 2 lobby glitches which are not major). I'm happy.Last edited by Richard Dawkins; 11-14-2012 at 05:47 AM.

Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
I will gladly counter this. Halo 4 is a good game yes, but it is not a good Halo game.
The pacing in this game is WAY too fast, and doesn't even feel like you are playing Halo. You just die, instant respawn, run to kill someone, die again, do it again just like in CoD.
Grenades are absolutely worthless, they might as well remove them from the game if they are going to make them this bad. The blast radius of nades is too small, and you can't throw them very far either. Gone are the days of getting chased by someone while you have low shield and being able to slow them down by a well timed grenade through a doorway.
Maps: I absolutely hate how there is no ammo on the maps, and once you run out of ammo with your gun you have to go scrambling to find a dead body somewhere rather than going somewhere where you there is ammo like in previous Halos. Also, the game is seriously lacking in number of maps, and you know they didn't make more maps because they want to milk money out of map packs.
The menu system is so ugly that it makes me not even want to navigate the menus to change how my guy looks or see my stats.
EDIT: Also, with the ability for players to join during the middle of the game it takes away from the competitive feel that previous Halo games had, I no longer feel like I am a part of a team like I did in Halo, rather that I am in it for myself as people constantly leave and join. Feels too much like CoD, not much like Halo.Last edited by NtG; 11-14-2012 at 10:30 AM.

Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
I agree with you about the nades. Only way I can kill someone with em is if I stick em with a plasma. I dont know if you played king of the hill, but it is just one giant grenade spam. It sucks.

Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
Good points.
I remember after Halo 2 came out, a bunch of new Halo players played a Halo 1 lan at my house. They kept whining that the grenades in that game were like "atomic bombs."
Those were the days....
*EDIT*- I too do not prefer the new system of ammo and power weapons. I miss learning weapon timers and coordinating and controlling them with a team. Also, the join in progress feature is lamentable since quitting too many matches leads to an automatic system-initiated temp ban.
Still, there is nothing in this game that makes me scream, "**** you, Bungie!" I remember after Halo 2 was picked up by MLG, reading the pages and pages of criticism an australian "pro gamer" had submitted to MLG and Bungie. It was depressing...
Probably the most serious criticism I've heard of Halo 4 is the lack of custom game options. Hopefully things like this are easy to fix I'd imagine.Last edited by Richard Dawkins; 11-14-2012 at 12:55 PM.

Just picked this up over BLOPS 2. Hope I made the right choice.

Hey, have any of you guys used some doritos double xp codes?
If so, can you send them to me? They can be redeemed at least twice. But only the doritos ones though, not Mountain Dew.

Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
Change the buttons to Recon like I did, Legacy Sticks and Recon Buttons for lyfe y0
GT = Houston Z33
I didn't play much of 1, I was hooked on 2, I didn't like 3 (aka 2.5) much but, I LOVED Reach. Also I've never, ever played one player Halo - I'm multiplayer only (even in Halo Wars)Last edited by Houston Z33; 11-19-2012 at 12:13 AM.

Re: Halo 4 - November 6th
Agreed the campaign is unbelievable...The story content alone is awesome. THe multiplayer has a different feel I'll admit but I really enjoy it.
