We have a shit-ton of cap space, and Banner's forte is maneuvering the cap. He and Haden would easily become the best CB tandem in the NFL.

I am more worried about what the Jets would be asking for. Without a 2nd rounder, we don't have a ton to offer outside our 1st, and the #6 pick is alot to give up for a guy coming off an ACL tear and a year away from free agency.

Maybe a swap of 1st and a middle round pick for Revis.

I'd rather give the big contract to Haden, because if you spend it on Revis you're basically going to lose Haden by proxy.

Can't have both of the leagues highest paid corners on your payroll, no matter what the cap space.

Maybe. Mack is the only other player due for an extension any time soon.

I am not going to pretend I am a cap guru. But if any team could absorb a big contract like that and still be ok, Browns would be near the top of the list.

Didn't we just give Haden a big deal around the same time as the JT deal? We do have a lot to spend this season to get to the minimum, don't think pissing it all away on Revis is the best idea, but we gotta find people to spend it on.

Edit: Not a new deal, just activated an extension.

I don't care, we don't need to be taking up most of our cap space with Revis and Haden. We need a dominate linebacker.

I am thinking around 13-14 mil per year. If he honestly wants 20mil a year, then no.

I'd pay both Revis and Haden if we could afford it. Not being a cap guru, I don't know if that's feasible. But if we stop giving the Juqua Parker's of the world 3 million per season, why couldn't we? Revis and Haden with an average FS and Ward gives me a stiffy thinking about it. If we got an elite pass rusher at #6 and an adequate safety in the 3rd or free agency I think our defense has the potential to grow into the kind of defense the Ravens had when Trent Dilfer got handed a super bowl.

Not gonna happen though. The Jets wouldn't trade him for nothing, and we can't afford to give up much else than that.

Didn't philly just drop a ton of cap for a top teir set of DBs?

... how'd that turn out for them? Their secondary is suspect with quite a bit of cap tied up.

Sometimes it's not about individual players... it's about how well DBs fit with eachother based on their skillsets. An acl tear? Maybe he won't be able to keep up Revis island anymore.
$50 RCF bet against cmstophe and jigo_oi that the Browns will make the playoffs in 2013.
