Re: 2013 NFL Draft thread
Ugh at taking a QB @ 6. If there were one worth it then absolutely but we'll be staring some kind of blue chip pass rusher in the face at that spot. Take the rusher and if we're dead set on getting a developmental QB, get him in the 3rd/4th where there is actual value in taking one of the guys this year.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft thread
Been reading Jarvis Jones will slide because of his workout habits:
Jarvis Jones Expected To Slide on Draft Day
By Charlie Campbell - @draftcampbell
Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones had been one of the most dominant football players in college football the past two seasons. He's destroyed the SEC for those two years, as many consider him to be one of the most talented players in the 2013 NFL Draft class. Jones is on top of my 2013 NFL Draft Big Board, as well as ESPN's Mel Kiper's.
However, after speaking with scouts at the East-West Shrine Game who have Jones in their territory, they say they expect Jones to slide down and fall out of the top five next April.
The scouts said there are a few reasons that could add up to Jones falling into the 6-10 range. First of all, the scouts said that Jones is not a good workout guy. They don't believe that he is going to test well or stand out in the Combine or pre-draft workouts. Area scouts who cover Georgia say that Jones is not a weight-room guy. He doesn't put a lot of work in during the week, but would show up on Saturday and dominate naturally.

If we take a QB at 6 I'm becoming a Bungles fan.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft thread
For anyone that watched the Senior Bowl yesterday, how did John Simon do? I saw that he was listed as a LB on the roster sheet but wasn't able to see if he had made any plays yesterday.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft thread
For those draft gurus out there, here is a link to some 2013 NFL Mock Drafts (not sure if this has been posted already):
http://walterfootball.com/draftdata.php
I'll be sure to come back to this forum for Combine/Pro Day info. As of right now, my bold prediction is that Ezekiel Ansah destroys the combine and the Browns take him at # 6. If he kills those agility drills like Von Miller did in 2011 (I thought Mayock was going to have a heart attack), Lombardi will have no problem pulling the trigger and slotting him as our starting OLB in the 3-4.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft thread
I did this Browns mock on another board:
Going off of the updated cbs rankings, here's my latest Browns mock:
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings
6) OLB Mingo or OLB J.Jones (tough spot, would prefer a tradedown)
68) FS Amerson or OLB B.Jenkins or OLB C.Thomas or OLB Carradine
101) CB Wreh-Wilson or FS Cyprien or DT/DE Logan or QB EJ Manuel
132) OT Armstead or CB Robey or FS Motta
~170) ILB Mauti or DB Mathieu or OT Mills or CB Adams or G Uzzi
~204) and ~206) 2 of WR Boyce, P Allen, OLB E.Martin, DE J.Kruger, DE Lewis-Moore, DE S.Vallone, OT Wetzel, OLB Q.Smith, CB J.Johnson, CB Malone, TE Rivera, WR Moe, RB Winn, FS Boyett, CB M.White, RB Johnson, OT O.Johnson
I'd want more 3rd day picks
As always 2nd to 4th is where the value's at. The question for the Browns will be what's better? Rolling the dice on "high end" boom/(injury) busts like Mingo/J:Jones + Amerson
OR
punt our 1st rounder and get 2 more 2nd to 4th rounders in return
Is Mingo/Jones better than, say: Ansah/D.Jordan + Patton/Poyer + Logan/S.Bailey (or flyer on a falling QB like EJ Manuel) ??
I somewhat prefer the 2nd scenario...our 1st pick would still be a "risky" pass rushing prospect, but we'd get a "safe" 2nd round guy like Patton or Poyer and either another flyer (QB or injury player...Carradine? Jenkins?) or solid pick like Logan or S.Bailey in the 3rd/4th round range to "risk control" the draft class
Opinions?
