I'd imagine for him to come, he'd have control over the final 53.

Final decisions go to Banner yes, but you can bet whoever comes in, whether it's a coach or GM, will make most of the personnel decisions. It's his M.O., he's more of a money guy/cap guy.

The owner clearly said (on multiple occasions) that he's going to wait until the offseason to make that decision. Not hard to understand.

I think this City needs to get used to our whining and complaining not leading to getting our way whenever we want. Haslam (and Banner) gets that Pat isn't the guy, but probably would rather have Pat see the season through so he can evaluate a team rather than think about, "well, we fired the coach, so we're not completely sure if (enter player/coach name) was working poorly or just was rattled by the mid-season change."

There will be times where the media is hollering for change or action or whatever and they're going to be real mad because it isn't RL where complaints were immediately attended to. RL handled the City like the parent of a brat; give you what you want regardless of whether or not it was good for you.

I guess the only postive thing you can say about Shurmur is that he is gearing us towards a better draft pick, which we may need to ethier A. Get a top quality stud player who we always seem to miss out on every year or B. Trade a high draft pick to a team in need of a QB...

The flip side of the coin is that us losing may be detrimental to our young players development...

Banner already told Mary Cay Cabbot (sp) the coach will make the final 52 roster, no matter who it is.

Well yeah, but I assume he was speaking in terms of cuts. Banner isn't going to commit to giving complete control of the roster to a coach before knowing who it is. If he brings in a rookie head coach he isn't going to allow the guy to make personnel decisions like that. He'll take his input and allow him to determine the final 53, he'll have a GM giving the coach the talent to choose from.

This could be completely different if someone like Andy Reid becomes the coach.

Isn't the 53rd a guy from Europe that never plays? Or did they get rid of that rule?

Yes, now it's a white WR from Oklahoma St who never plays.

Immediately after the game the CBS crew were all blasting the Steelers at how bad they were. As they were segwaying to the next highlight, Bill Cowher went out of his way to say something like, great job by the Cleveland Browns.

Which is sad because I actually like him quite a bit. I think I'd rather play him than Glassaquoi.

No, I saw that too. Clearly a show of respect to Cleveland. What it means beyond that is moot, IMO.
