Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
Would love an update on Carlos Carrasco's health, but I doubt with the Indians general outlook on providing injury info that they'll give one.
He has more potential than Masterson, in my honest opinion.

Trevor Bauer is awesome.
Nice trade, especially considering we all knew Choo was gone at the end of the year.
Drew Stubbs is one of the worst regulars in the MLB though.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
Advanced stats suggest otherwise. To wit:
jeff ellis @jeffIPI
So I got some good news on Drew Stubbs, last year was first awful year had been a 2/3 win player before. BABIP last year 43 pts below avg
jeff ellis @jeffIPI
He had been consistent over the first 3 years, this shows he was incredibly unlucky last year, and should be in for a rebound
jeff ellis @jeffIPI
Warming to Stubbs stats show he was extremely unlucky, great bounce back candidate

This was one hell of trade. I firmly believe this would of never happened if we never sign Francona. He has brought a new attitude to Cleveland baseball, a certain confidence. Still can't believe what we got on paper for a guy who had no interest in staying here.
Hats off to Cleveland tonight.Last edited by OhioSlayer; 12-11-2012 at 10:49 PM.

What kind of deals are Cody Ross & Edwin Jackson looking for in FA?
both would be welcomed with open arms by me, all things considered. If we call an older woman chasing after a younger boy a "Cougar"....... Is it safe to say that we can call an old man chasing after a younger boy a "Nittany Lion"???

Any interest in Matt Diaz? Might be due for a bounce back year but wouldn't hold my breath at age 35....man the RF free agent list is thin. The Cubs got a steal for Nate Schierholtz.

In Bauer's cup of coffee last season, 1-2 with 16.1 IP, 17 K's, 6.06 ERA, 1.65 WHIP.

Wouldn't mind picking up Capuano or Harang from the Dodgers. Both could be had for cheap.

If Drew Stubbs could put together a .240/20/75 campaign with good fielding, you would not hear one complaint from me.
With Reynolds? .225/30/90 is close to what I'd be happy with.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
Unlucky or not, the guy still strikes out over 160 times a year and has never OBP'd over .330. I'm not sure what kind of bounce back or consistency they're looking for, because he's a good, but not great player.
In spite of that, the trade and the Reynolds signing look better on paper than I've come to expect from the Tribe. Neither Stubbs nor Reynolds are going to be difference makers on this team and I guarantee there are long stretches where people beg for them to be gotten rid of due to their inconsistency. BUT...they're still two guys actually have a proven track record of being able to hit the ball at all, so that's a notch up.
Bauer is what that trade will be judged by though, anyways.Last edited by JiggleIt; 12-11-2012 at 10:53 PM.
How about a quick simile: Watching the Browns from '99-'12 is like waiting for someone to finish shitting when you've gotta go piss real bad. Now imagine waiting on a 12 year shit...

Could we see Hamilton sign a one year deal, ala Juan Gone a few years back, and then break the bank after next season?
Am I being greedy?

Carrasco had the surgery done in Sept 2011, I figure he's set to go for spring training unless he had a set back at some point.
“Take your comebacks, write them down on a sheet of paper. Roll it up tight, soak it in water, freeze it overnight, then jam it up your ass.”
