Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
Kinda feeling like Mark Trumbo would be a better fit for the Indians than Nick Swisher. Its a close call though.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
Confirmed...
http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2012/1...ue-outfielder/Swisher had lunch in Cleveland meeting with former Ohio State Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel, and co-host of “Bull and Fox,” Dustin Fox of 92.3 The Fan.
Shapiro, Francona, GM Chris Antonetti, and even Paul Dolan were also in attendance for the lunch to court Swisher.
A video message that featured a number of big names including OSU basketball coach Thad Motta was shown to continue to entice the outfielder to want to come home.

God. You'd think they're going after Albert Pujols with all of the crap they're going through.

Meh.
It's not about the "celebrity status" as much as it's about getting a group of guys to show how bad we want him here.
It would easily be the biggest FA signing in quite a while (if not ever) and, overpaying or not, it would be a huge signing not only on the field, but to the fans as well, to prove that they'll go out & spend more money than they should for a big name FA.

On the scoreboard they had Swisher batting 4th, he was 3-3 with a single and 2 HR's on the day.

Yea only chance I feel we had to sign him was if we got him to stay here. Moment he left it was over...time to see if we can get Ross and the Phillies unlinked

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
It's been reported for a while now that he was intent on visiting all the teams on his list. Sure, the Indians should have done all they could to not let him leave without a contract, and they more than likely did.. But there's nothing they could have done if he's been intent on visiting every team on that list.

Tribe going in for Swisher, haha I love. Especially using OSU as a recruiting tool. LMAO
Leave it to Ohio State to recruit for Cleveland sports teams
