Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
We really are going into spring training without a legit DH. Bummer.

Rich Hill wouldn't be a bad guy to bring in for long relief.
Only 32 years old, and he had a 1.83 ERA for the Red Sox in 25 relief appearances with 21 strikeouts in 19.2 IP.

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
I recommend reading Francona, just got done with it. He is the man.
Some things that were interesting from Indians perspective:
1. He has really bad health. Like it's a constant struggle for him, dealing with bad knees and hips and stuff. Hope he is okay.
2. The Red Sox were a hot mess in the front office, he had meetings where they talked about ratings and winning in a more exciting fashion. Lol. So it's not hard to see why he would want to come to the Cleve and not have to deal with that.
3. Francona being a quant-friendly computer manager guy is a bit overblown. He likes to have as much information as possible, but he also sometimes goes against what the quant stuff says.
4. Don't call him coach. It pisses him off. He is the manager. The other guys are coaches, he sees it as a sign of disrespect.
5. It's not hard to see why players love him. He is a reasonable, sharp, and honest guy.
Anyways, it's worth a read. Definitely made me psyched for the season (and continued my "holy toledo, we got tito" feeling). Maybe I should make that into a t-shirt. lol.

Also, 159 games will be broadcast on @sportstimeohio this season, with 2 games seen nationally on Fox. In all 161 games on TV.

The lone game not scheduled to be aired on TV is Saturday July 13th 7pm home game vs Royals.

Good news, especially for those that complain (rightly so) about not all games being on TV.-Corey

Re: 2012-2013 Indians Offseason Thread (Mark Reynolds signed, Francona hired)
The Indians are no longer pursuing Jim Thome, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal (Twitter link) reports, as the team doesn't want to devote a roster spot to a full-time DH. Thome is "healthy, working out [and] open to other clubs," Rosenthal notes. Thome said in December that he was open to continuing his career in 2013.

The Indians are close to finalizing a minor league deal with former Rockies slugger Jason Giambi, reports Troy Renck of the Denver Post (via Twitter). The contract will include an invitation to MLB Spring Training.

So, the Indians just signed a finalist for the Rockies manager job to play baseball for them.
