Haha, I don't need a lesson on Prince, as he's one of the greatest of all time. Personal favorite of mine. My point was simply that you can't really put him in a box and strictly label him "rock and roll".

Prince's Little Red Corvette alone is HoF quality. One of the coolest songs of all time. Prince is also a great guitarist, singer and overall entertainer.

He should probably be rated amongst the top 50 greatest music artists of all time.
How about a quick simile: Watching the Browns from '99-'12 is like waiting for someone to finish shitting when you've gotta go piss real bad. Now imagine waiting on a 12 year shit...

I thought he already was in the top 50. Who doesn't have him in the top 50?

Prince had one of the best Super Bowl Half Time Shows of all time. Who could forget Purple Rain... in the fucking rain? Brilliant.

20 seems high, but I could see it. I ignore most of the moronic Rolling Stone lists almost solely because they constantly rank Velvet Underground- who was horrible- in the top 25. They shouldn't even be ranked in the top 1,000. They were awful and I'm generally open to all types of music.

Fleetwood Mac is always under-rated too, even though they had a sound that nobody really had before or after them either.

he's at the top of my personal list, although there are a handful of artists (such as the Beatles) I have no problem being ranked ahead of him.

There have been a few listings of top 100 living geniuses that has Prince as the top rated musician (not counting classical), including this

What constitutes a HOF career? One great album? A decade?

Guys like Prince did it for an entire generation. He deserves to be in. But what's with all the Boston love? They made one amazing self-titled album and then... nothing.

Maybe we should just induct their self-titled album, and leave the band out.

I'd put you in the HOF before Randy Newman. I'm pretty sure he's only famous because people mistake him for Paul Newman.
