Re: School Help
I took a test ACT my Freshman or Sophomore year (can't remember which), and I got a 27 on it.
I'm still not too good on the scale, but is that any good? I'm expecting when I actually know a set date for it, that I'll improve a few points on it.

Re: School Help
A 27 is a really solid score. Generally the average fluctuates somewhere between 16-20.
A solid 25 and up along with a solid GPA should get you into Ohio State. I've looked into it quite a bit, I have a lot of students who really want to go to Ohio State. I'm already spending 10 hours a week on rec. letters.

Re: School Help
I'm not knocking OSU as a college. It is a great college. In my major there are a few hundred students in the program at OSU, I graduated with a class of 20. That was more appealing to me.
My point is, find a college that fits you... don't try to fit yourself in a college. Other students may like having large class sizes.. more students to bounce ideas off of.$50 RCF bet against cmstophe and jigo_oi that the Browns will make the playoffs in 2013.
Made in the Week 5 gameday thread.

Re: School Help
I think this is a good point. I was down to Akron and OSU when I was looking to transfer. I am an Accounting major, so here were a few things I looked at.. OSU is more competitive (due to the number of students),probably has a better overall program, and great job placement. I then looked at Akron. Not as competitive (CBA admission reqs), a good bit of students, but not as much as OSU, a very good program (ranks in 94th percentile in the country), and has great job placement. You have firms from Cleveland, Akron, and Canton recruiting you (including all of the Big 4). My GPA is a 3.15, not the best, but I am getting the opportunity to go up to Grant Thornton in Cleveland for a second interview. GT is a national firm (branched off of an international firm)..so really the possibilities are endless.
I think it is very important to find the right school for YOU, instead of just going for the best school.

Re: School Help
Well, the first quarter is over, and I somehow pulled an 80.51% out of my ass in AP History.
Here's what my grades were if anybody is wondering...
Chemistry - 94.89% - A
English III Advanced - 95.29% - A
Government - 93.43% - A
Spanish III - 93.13% - A
Trig-PreCalc - 95.61% - A
US History AP - 80.51% - B
Of course I'd love to have an A in AP History, but since I was flirting with a 40% for about seven weeks, I'll take that B and move on.

Re: School Help
OSU wants a 3.5 or above coming out of high school and a solid SAT/ACT score. They changed the academic standards for acceptance the year I got in, which was a dramatic boost.
I scored a 1240 on my SAT, which was the equivalent of a 30 on the ACT. OSU was literally calling me to make sure I still planned on applying and to see if I wanted to be an honors or scholar student. When I finally sent in my application, I got my acceptance letter less than two weeks later.
On the other hand, there was a girl in my class who was an NHS member who had a higher GPA than me, did a whole bunch of extra curricular activities, etc. but she did worse than I did on the SAT/ACT. She didn't get accepted to OSU.
Bottom line: Maintain a solid GPA, but test scores reign supreme.

Re: School Help
If anyone still cares about this, I ended up pulling my first quarter grade up to an 80.51% B and then had a 102.72% A+ in the second quarter and was named Student of the Nine Weeks. It pulled me up to an A for the semester, so the 4.0 is still alive.

Thanks to all of you guys though, especially Keys. I'd been kind of coasting through school for eleven years, and this class and Chemistry have both woken me up a bit.
