i feel when it comes to the "assets" being throw around, we kind of have to wait until they are used to see the true value of an asset. Anything outside of an early 1st round pick is kind of hard to materialize, especially when we dont know what our conditional picks are/how much another team values them.. im not saying you dont know this FYI just kind of reiterating, for lack of a better term

edit- ok i re-read your post and i basically just said what you said, but with more words. My b

I hate to sound like a dick (not my intention), but the metaphor you used is exactly the situation the Cavaliers are in. When using a carrot on the end of a stick to get a horse to move, the horse doesn't get the carrot until the destination is reached. The Cavaliers have all these assets dangling in front of fans faces until a trade can be made. I (think I) understand what you're trying to get at, but your choice of metaphor isn't fitting.

I felt like he conducted the entire interview from an impatient fan perspective, looking at the product we have on the floor without thinking what it'll mean long term. A lot of his statements were really ignorant because of this. Paraphrasing here, but:

"I don't want any more late-1sts because you never draft anyone useful with them." (windy did a good job of explaining how they're valuable throw ins in a trade)

"I don't want Rising Stars, I want All-Stars." (How many players reach the all-star game in either their rookie or sophomore year? Blake was the only rookie recently, and then guys like Irving, Rose, etc made it as sophomores. Off the top of my head, I'd say it's at about a rate of 1 per rookie class, and most other all-stars develop to that level after a few more seasons. Considering we've had two draft classes, how much does he expect?)

"Waiters and Zeller are busts, TT will never be a good player." (Again, way way way too early to say one way or another. I'm not gonna call them busts, just like I won't call each of them a future all-star. No sure way to predict future development of players)

I don't live in Cleveland so I don't listen to these guys on a regular basis, but he didn't come off as someone who knew the ins and outs as to what he was talking about.

I count myself lucky I don't have to listen to Cleveland sports radio anymore... Talk about BADDD at their job.

What WAS wrong is that he was just ranting without being informed what Grant is trying to do even though Windy told him a few weeks earlier that the Cavs have to use these picks to aquire a FA.
It really annoyed me that once BW explained how Grant could use the picks he started piping "Oh thats what I want to hear"..blah blah..
If thats not bad enough he starting chirping on if KI was as good as some are saying how come he can't take the Cavs to the playoffs..
    Really?
U would actually think thats a smart thing to say knowing how bad the roster is???

That was exactly my thought too. Uncle Rizzy went down even a few more pegs in my mind after his complete lack of NBA understanding in that interview.

If anyone is saying Tristan can't be a good player, then it suggests to me they haven't watched since last year or early this year. He's been playing mostly excellent basketball over the last month and a half now on both sides of the ball. Not saying Tristan is a top flight PF at this point, but it's very clear that he's on his way to being one. He's doing what he's doing while being very raw and undeveloped.

That statement alone tells me the guy is out of touch with at least one franchise.

Rizzo embarrassed himself when he already proclaimed Waiters a complete bust in the interview. Way to early to say that about the kid. I am not in love with Waiters, but come on. How does he know the Lakers pick is going to be at the end of the first round(again not doing your HW) Sad that the guys that do this for a living know less then us!

Agreed 100%. I would not go as far as saying he is "untouchable", but he is certainly a Core player. Only way I move TT is in a deal that brings back a bona fide Superstar who is under reasonable contractual control and who is not yet at or past his prime.

The Plan is quite simple to me ----this team needs another Superstar to pair with KI. That Superstar comes from a major deal (see above), or comes via Free Agency in the Summer of 2014 (see below).

Mo Sp is the one I'd move if possible. While he looks good in his short addition, re-signing him would negatively impact future cap flexibility, and for that you get a guy who may turn into a regular starter and 18/8 type, or who may settle in at 8/6 type. He'll get paid for the flashes he is showing now ... without any sort of comfort that this production would continue. Plus, as another poster mentioned, his numbers are not yet generated from the post, which is what this team needs. If Mo Sp is signed to a $8-$9 mil/per year deal, and AV comes back, one would have to be moved to regain Cap flexibility, and the ability to move one in the future is not guaranetted (see AV this year)....just move Mo now. Keep TT, AV, and draft Big.
