Re: Keep Heckert Here
Would have said keep him here til he drafted a 29 year old in the 1st round to be the starting QB on a terrible team that is rebuilding.... That decision alone wouldn't make me too upset if he's gone.

Wow, I had no idea he was 29, I wish somebody would have brought that up before!

Re: Keep Heckert Here
I can't say definitively on Greg Little yet, but he has shown improvement in recent weeks. Its too early to say though.
Colt McCoy, on the other hand, is a top of the line back up quarterback. And that can be an extremely valuable position. A Charlie Batch type comes to mind. Sometimes during Super Bowl runs your quarterback gets knocked out and you need someone to step in who can manage the game and grind it out to a victory. Those games can be critical in playoff seeding. McCoy is probably the best options for a back up QB in the league right now, and is the reason a lot of teams have shown interest in him.$50 RCF bet against cmstophe and jigo_oi that the Browns will make the playoffs in 2013.
Made in the Week 5 gameday thread.

Re: Keep Heckert Here
29 year old QB still has at least 7 quality years, maybe moreso in Weeden's case since he doesn't have 7 years of NFL hits on his body that a normal 29 year old QB has.
If we're still in the midst of this rebuild (Save the "we've been rebuilding for the past 13 years" jokes, I mean the rebuild that Heckert/Holmgren started) after 7+ years, then we had more problems than just "taking a 29 year old QB in the 1st round on a terrible team that's rebuilding"..Last edited by MoFlo; 11-05-2012 at 08:14 PM.

Re: Keep Heckert Here
Ok, say you're done rebuilding in 2 years. That still gives you 5 years of play from the guy, possibly more since he doesn't rely on athleticism like someone like Vick. He's a pocket QB who relies on brains and a strong arm. He could lose some of that arm strength, but I doubt it decreases all that much. Also add in him not getting hit. If you don't think he has the tools, fine. The age argument just seems stupid. He won't be able to play for 15 years, but 7-10 isn't too shabby.
Not to mention I'd rather have my QB grow with the young team rather than having a decent team that has to wait for the QB to develop before being successful."Any asshole can be a father, I want to be a champion." - The League
