Letters
My impression of letters is that it used to be this kind of charming and classy way of communication. It could be both romantic, thoughtful and informative. I have always pictured myself these middle-aged, bearded and heavily influenced authors, maybe some early years before the telephone were to become the first choice of long distance interaction, writing these long letters to dear friends or a lost love or two. Today, I barely write a single e-mail, and the ones I write are hardly ever private. Most of the contact I have with friends and family (i.e. long distance) is through text messaging or talking on the phone. I'm not big of a fan of Facebook anymore, but I guess that is also a medium that is being used frequently by a lot of people.
Well, anyways. What's your thought about letters? And I'm not talking about these formal kind of work related letters. I'm thinking more of letters as a mean of upholding the contact with friends and family that you don't see very often. And has writing letters to girls gone from being romantic, courteous and mature, to being a non-alpha, cheesy and faggy thing to do? Or has it always been kind of douchey, only to be romanticized in books and films?
Is writing letters a lost art, has blogging somehow become the new kind of letter writing? Or is the decreasing amount of circulating letters not a big deal at all?

I only communicate through faxes.

Re: Letters
I communicate via miming.
How about a quick simile: Watching the Browns from '99-'12 is like waiting for someone to finish shitting when you've gotta go piss real bad. Now imagine waiting on a 12 year shit...

Re: Letters
Actually this is relevant to me because my cousin went to jail, and I write letters to him. It is weird, because I haven't wrote letters since like 2nd grade.

Re: Letters
I think letters are awesome, and it is a lost form.
I have a journal, that I write in, and I actually have a letter written in there. It's written in cursive, in pencil.
I never had a clear intention of giving the letter to that person, it's just something that I needed to do, to remember how I was feeling, at the time.
Wouldn't call it a "love letter". It was more of admiration/gratitude.
In this world, it is very rare that you meet someone who inspires you to write, in general. Maybe it's just because I'm a girl, but I can't recall the last time I even wanted to write to someone.
Other than that, I am a texter. I don't really like talking on the phone. Hell, I even deactivated my Facebook to get away from communication with people.Last edited by McIntyre; 11-11-2012 at 09:07 PM.
