Re: gun control
I don't know why gun ownership ever became a conservative vs liberal thing anyways. Doesn't really match up that closely with either party's ideologies necessarily.
You either feel safer with a gun or you don't. You either trust others with a gun or you don't. I don't feel safer with a gun and I don't trust most others with guns either and I don't identify with either party on the whole.
So stupid that it ever became a political stance either way.
In any case, I read up on Japan's regulations and I think that idealistically they'd work here. But we do have a completely different society, a more violent one. You'd have to change American society for it to work. I wish we could, but we can't.
That's not to say it isn't worth a try to make guns more difficult to obtain legally.Last edited by JiggleIt; 12-16-2012 at 12:28 PM.
How about a quick simile: Watching the Browns from '99-'12 is like waiting for someone to finish shitting when you've gotta go piss real bad. Now imagine waiting on a 12 year shit...

Re: gun control
You're quite the pawn, in fact.
Just completely if ignoring the precedent set by nations who figured out this problem long ago. Instea relying on this bullshit notion of this scary third world nation right outside your door and living your life in fear...that's so alpha!
Now you've evolved into convincing yourself that if guns were banned people would all die of bombs, because in your world those who are smart enough to fire a gun can also just as easily make a bomb.
And you know what, maybe more people would die from bombs, but if you think that would in any way rival the amount of gun deaths in this country you're absolutely kidding yourself.

Re: gun control
Japan might have guns banned or whatever. Now they just throw bombs into classrooms.

And use knives for mass-murders (who said knives arent deadly)?
Osaka school massacre. Armed with a kitchen knife, a 37-year-old former janitor Mamoru Takuma trespassed into Ikeda Elementary School attached to Osaka-Kyoiku University and stabbed school children and teachers. 8 children were killed and 15 wounded, among those were 13 children and two teachers.
and more stabbings:
A 17-year-old boy stabbed two teachers and a school nutritionist with a kitchen knife at his former elementary school, killing one of the teachers
and more:
23-year-old teacher Yu Hagino stabbed 12-year-old Sayano Horimoto to death at a cram school in Uji, following a verbal dispute. Yu was sentenced to 18 years in prison in March 2007

http://bigstory.ap.org/article/worsh...-threat-report
NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — Worshippers hurriedly left a church Sunday, saying they were told there was a bomb threat not far from the elementary school where 20 kids and six adults were massacred.
At least a dozen police in camouflage SWAT gear and carrying guns arrived at the St. Rose of Lima Church. An Associated Press photographer saw police leave carrying something in a red tarp.
Guns drawn, they surrounded the rectory across the parking lot from the main church building. A large crowd of parishioners gathered outside.
There was no official report from police about the threat or evacuation.
Shooter Adam Lanza, his mother and eight of the child victims attended St. Rose of Lima. It is a Roman Catholic Church with an adjacent school, which Lanza attended briefly.
It's not clear if there actually was a threat or if, like many tragedies, whether it was a hoax or the result of a community on edge.
The church hosted overflow crowds at all three morning masses Sunday.

Re: gun control
Sure would make it less effective. Even though you're just blatantly wrong that it wouldn't reduce crime, you're trying to tell us they'd be just as effective with knives?
Guns give violent people 'big dick' syndrome. Give him a knife instead and see how ballsy or effective he is in a conflict.
You think the murder rate wouldn't drop? You're delusional.

Re: gun control
Marginal differences?
ive already posted major fundamental differences that you chose to ignore.
most importantly, some of guys are looking at the actuall regulations and not the major governing difference and citizen rights amongst the countries that allow those regulations to be enforceable.
population density. land size, econimics. philosophy, culture. theres some major differences.
