I'd just like to point out, not one of his executive orders actually does anything to restrict gun use. Go through and read them again.

Guns are a major problem in the United States.

    Sounds reasonable to me.
I guarantee the actual number of gun owners is way higher, too. I'm not sure how many we could actually quantify it by, but there are a ton of "street guns" out there.

Ya, he would have gotten extreme backlash if he tried to just pass something like that through on his own.

His proposals to Congress do, however, have more damning effects for gun owners. Not sure they have a chance to make it through, though, thankfully, as he has them written up currently.

Wise gun owner here. Perhaps, we should put more guns out there...

Well this no longer applies. As I said, just because it hadn't happened doesn't mean it wouldn't. This most recent one in Texas is also fairly damning because it appears as if it was caused by an argument. Not a planned mass shooting.

An angry person using a gun they had on them at the time to end an argument? Pfft. That's fantasy.

Thats the primary reason I haven't picked up a gun yet, just asking for trouble. Not responsible enough for that

The fact that Dave K can buy a gun doesn't just prove we need stricter gun control? /thread.

Actually I would like to own a handgun myself. I just can't justify spending the money at the moment. Also don't trust myself as I still tend to party like I did in college. Maybe I'll consider it once that calms down, I don't trust my drunk self anywhere near a gun. I shot my douchebag roommate in the back of the head with an airsoft gun while I was hammered.

Dude you have no idea. Pawn shop within walking distance exclusively sells guns.. pea shooters for 400, hand cannons for 900. Ill stick to breaking knuckles on the back of heads for now, i get in enough trouble as it is and could really use some time off from the crazy.

How many mass school shootings in the state of Texas? People will kill each other. You can't stop that guns or no guns.

I find it interesting the average age of those who are in favor of gun control. It's very telling and the comments they make about not trusting themselves with a gun is also very telling.

Once again I'm not really in favor of gun control. I got into this argument because your logic was terrible and I felt the need to debate it. As I said, I'd like to own a gun. I already have the type all picked out and I've shot it multiple times. I just can't justify dropping the money as I have several other expenses that take priority.

Dave doesn't trust himself with a gun for obvious reasons. How is that telling by the way? I'm a young kid who parties a fair amount. As I age I will party less. If anything I think I'm being responsible not owning a gun when I know I'm going to come home drunk relatively often.

i haven't researched the topic enough to make a stance for or against gun control or to what extent. I just know that like Cock, it would lead to exponentially more trouble than good for me.

I should add though, I don't really have much of a problem with some of the restrictions proposed to Congress. Armor piercing bullets and high capacity mags for sure.

So two people here have said they wouldn't trust themselves with a gun and suddenly you're assuming everyone in favor of stricter gun control is some irresponsible jackass?

I could just as easily generalize and say those posters here in favor of no gun control are a bunch of paranoid nutjobs who live their lives in fear of blacks and totalitarian government. But I won't. Because generalizations are stupid.
