Even so, it just gives the vibe that we had one egg in our basket.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search

They were going to have to land someone substantial to reel me back in after cutting Heckert. I'm sorry, I just don't believe in Joe Banner at all. I can't trust someone whose face is always bunched up in a squint or as if he's standing around someone who's ripped death ass.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
Fuck Jimmy Haslem, and fuck Joe Banner.
That's pretty much how I feel right now; and I don't think anything can change that.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
Notre Dame is as good of a job as there is in all of football. Brian Kelly is not leaving that to coach the Browns.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
I'm just saying. It's already been reported Saban told us he was staying before the entire Chip Kelly fiasco happened. So Kelly, at the best, was the #2 option. We also don't know if they contacted Gruden/Cowher/etc before Saban.
Bill O'Brien was interviewed & it was reported we had legit interest, but he bailed out early in the process to return to his current job. Marrone was interviewed twice, including once while Kelly was interviewing with Philly.
So there were numerous other candidates before & during the Kelly fiasco.
If anything, the Browns have to "reboot" because Kelly was the 4th candidate (not in order of preference, but chronologically) to decide to go elsewhere.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
I don't get this line of thinking at all.
They can't put a gun to the guy's head & make them sign a contract. They spent 7 hours with the guy. Then Philly did the same. And he didn't sign with either team. That should tell you this was all on Kelly, not the organizations involved.

Saban says he isn't leaving Bama. It DOES NOT mean he isn't leaving Bama.
"I'm not going to be the coach at Alabama", 2 weeks later, he is the coach at Alabama.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
It's not because they 'couldn't sign someone'; it's the fact that they let their arogance get in the way of keeping Heckert here, when half of the problem was finding a competent GM at this point. I STILL don't understand the decision to let him go; they were more familiar with him than any other possible GM in the league, Heckert got praised around the league as being a highly skilled talent-finder..
..so what Jim Nutz?! Huh?? Do you and Joe Shrimp-lips have this perfect fantasy in your head of assembling the perfect combo of GM and head coach?! I have this feeling in my heart, that these guys don't know shit about football. Neither Jim Nutz (obvious) or Joe Shrimp-Lips. Looks to me as if they're chasing their own tails.
Another fucking year on the marry-go-round.

Re: Browns "reboot" coaching search
Saban is a known liar. I have no idea why anyone would take his word on anything. Not that I think he's leaving, but I sure as hell wouldn't take his word on it.
But I sure as hell hope my Irish beat him badly tonight either way.If I sound ignorant, don't blame me. I post on realcavsfans.com
