Chudz, Turner, Horton would be really, really swell.

Good coaching is great to have, but even the best coaches need talent to be successful. We have a nice core group of young guys to build around. Now, can Lombardi finish the job Heckert started?

I'll say this about Chud and our ownership: whether he's a good head coach or not won't be known for a while, maybe a year or two, but he's definitely put himself in a good position to succeed on the field. Love the coaching staff in place, and it's set up so he doesn't have to do much heavy lifting besides setting up a program and organizing the personnel. Complete 180 from Shurmur who arrogantly told himself he could handle both being a 1st time HC and an OC, only to realize he failed miserably at both that first year.

Whether ownership is putting Chud in position to succeed by getting him the right personnel evaluators is another matter entirely.

I was a bit a skeptical of the Chud hire in the beginning but Banner and Haslam weren't kidding when they said they liked his ability to put a good staff together...

I can't stress how important coordinators are to a new head coaches success... Having a guy like Turner Chud can look upon for advice and call the plays for him is huge... Having Horton here to run the defense and give this team an edge is huge as well... This now allows Chud to let his coordinators coach and let him worry about coaching and managing the team...

I have to say this is probably the best staff this town has seen in some time, absolutely excellent..

I really can't convey how excited I am for this staff..

The thing that sticks out about them in listening to them talk is that the key themes seem to be aggressive and adapting... They want to be on the attack, always putting pressure on their opponents... But they also will adapt to the circumstances and mold their sides of the ball to what their players do best... Those two traits are key.. I also see this staff as more than just X&O guys but good teachers and developers of talent as well, which is huge for a young team...

Again, this staff has hit a home run and Chud is to thank for it...

I don't know about you guys, but I get a raging boner when watching the 07 highlight tapes and imagining the current group of players on offense running that system. Ridiculous.

I could see us having a repeat of 2007 as far as offensive production. Weeden can definitely sling it like DA could. I can see Josh Gordon being the equivalent to Braylon from that season, as far as catching bombs all day long. Richardson should be an upgrade of Jamal Lewis, if not the equivalent. We'll need to find our 3rd down target and pass-catching TE (Jurevicius and Winslow) but free agency and the draft might be able to supply us with both of them.

Just thought it be interesting to see how the staffs have rounded out for the prospective hires around the league:

    Chip Kelly
OC: Pat Shurmur (Kelly will call plays)
    DC: ???

    Doug Marrone
    OC: Nathaniel Hackett
    DC: Mike Pettine

    Marc Trestman
OC: ??? (Trestman will call plays)
    DC: Mel Tucker

    Bruce Arians
OC: Harold Goodwin (Arians will call plays)
    DC: Todd Bowles

    Gus Bradley
    OC: Jedd Fisch
    DC: Bob Babich

    Andy Reid
OC: Doug Pederson (Reid will call plays)
    DC: Bob Sutton

    Mike McCoy
    OC: Ken Whisenhunt
    DC: John Pagano

Say what you want about Chud but his staff is probably the most impressive as any of the hires... The other big thing is Chud will likely defer play-calling duties, which is huge to Chud being successful and allowing him to focus on being a HC and not a OC AND HC...

This is why I don't think it would be a stretch to say Chud might be one of the best hires if the front office can supply him with talent...

Not probably, Chud's staff is absolutely the best of the new hires. The only one that I'd say is even close would be McCoy with Whienhunt and Pagano. Still, I greatly prefer Norv and Horton. Really couldn't be happier with the way the coaching staff turned out.
