They likely won't get a sniff of the top five players. Washington has settled on Kentucky point guard John Wall with the No. 1 pick, and Philadelphia is expected to select Ohio State shooting guard Evan Turner with the second overall selection.

Evidently, Cavs guard Mo Williams wants to stay in Cleveland. Rumors have picked up in the last week about him being traded. He spoke out on his Twitter account on Wednesday saying he wants to remain with the Cavs.

"(Please) don't trade me," he said. "I'm not ready to go. I'm begging. My work ain't done yet. I'm on both knees ... (please). I'm serious."

The Cavs want to move back into the first round of tonight's draft. The Cavs might have had an interest in buying the Heat's pick at No. 18, but Miami traded the pick Wednesday to Oklahoma City.

"The cliff" is usually reserved for centers.

Jamison has the kind of game that ages pretty well. He is skilled, doesn't rely on explosive athleticism and he still has quickness in regard to his first step.

He will be relatively productive over the next two years if he stays healthy.

Brand on the other hand has had a bad injury that he hasn't recovered from and appears to be on a quicker physical decline. That extra year and bigger money makes a real difference in their contracts.

I'm not sure what is going to happen, but tonight is critical for the Cavaliers. This is the last chance to impress LeBron James prior to free agency on July 1st. If Gilbert & Grant sit on their hands it could be the final nail in the coffin as far as LeBron is concerned. I'm starting to think he may be leaning towards signing with the Chicago Bulls over the Cavaliers. Miami is a real darkhorse, especially if they can add Bosh AND James to Wade.

I get that the Cavs & Dan Gilbert are in a really difficult position. The team takes two very different directions, based solely on what LeBron does. Adding salary doesn't guarantee LeBron stays and yet, at the same time, Gilbert needs to try to improve the team to convince LeBron to re-sign.

The value of the team takes a HUGE hit if LeBron leaves & I'm sure Gilbert doesn't want that. They need to be smart, but they really need to pull out all the stops or else this thing could end very badly.

Hornets could trade out of lottery

The New Orleans Hornets’ front office hadn’t wanted to trade its No. 11 pick, but it appears the financial realities of the cash-strapped franchise are making it more likely the team will trade out of the lottery, league sources said late Wednesday.


The Hornets could make a team with cap space take one of their unwanted contracts – perhaps James Posey or even Julian Wright – as a condition for moving into the 11th spot. The Hornets could move later into the first round, where the guaranteed contracts for rookies descend with every spot until the 30th pick. Or, perhaps the Hornets could move completely out of the first round and pick up one or two second-round picks.

The Hornets were believed to be hoping Baylor’s Ekpe Udoh would drop down, but that appears unlikely. New Orleans had strong interest with Kansas’ Xavier Henry and Nevada’s Luke Babbitt, too.

Based on conversations with execs in last 24 hrs, sounds like #Cavs are just lukewarm on getting into first round at moment.

If they do buy in, likely will be last minute for a big or PG. Right now teams want more than $ for 1st rndrs. We'll see if prices change

If we fail to get in on a first round pick I doubt it comes from sitting on our hands. There is a lot of competition out there for these draft spots and with little other assets other then the cheque book, we are fighting an uphill battle.

Many teams want to trade their first rounds. Of course they are trying to get top price for a pick. These things always go down in the last minutes/seconds on draft day. If a team cannot get what they want now.... they will go down on price later on today. Meaning that a flat 3m will be the price instead of extra assets.

The problem is teams know we are desperate to make a move by July 1st, and tonight is a huge night. If nothing gets done tonight except getting a second round pick and taking a developmental player, I am afraid i have to say things do not look good! Lebron wants to see an improved roster when free agency hits. It is great to be optimistic until the cows come home, but right now the reality is we are running out of time, and we have about 7 days to make something happen. For me reality is starting to set in and I am bracing myself for the worst. I hope I am 100 percent wrong, but it just feels like we are in trouble.

If a pick were to be made available just for cash, I think Gilbert would be all over it. From what Windy is saying, teams want assets (West, JJ) and cash. The Cavs know they need to hold on to all the assets they have for a big trade.
