Default Has nintendo lost the hardcore gamer?

http://wii.ign.com/articles/933/933583p1.html

Good article, for IGN anyways
Smash Bros is so boring now. And for some reason i didnt even really like Mario Kart Wii, i kinda wish i never bought the system and just kept saving for a PS3 or got some 360 games. Anyways what do you think on the article and topic question.

I completely agree, the Wii is a joke of a console.(For the hardcore that is.)
I have had my Wii since it came out and I regret getting it ever since. The only reason I didn't return it was because I thought Brawl was going to be good.

Oh well, I might try to sell it on ebay. Last i checked people are still crazy over it.

Yes nintendo has definitely lost the hardcore gamer. I don't think they're really concerned though, last I checked the wii was still the highest selling system.

Same here.. I have a modded PS3/Wii/360 all sitting here.. (I have 2 360's tho.. for live)..

Regarding Nintendo, they lost the hardcore gamer with the Nintendo 64... Don't get me wrong, Goldeneye was fun, and Ocarina was simply amazing -- but everything else on that console was garbage.. The Gamecube was absolutely worthless -- I mean, why bother - get a PS2 or an XBox.. It only appealed to kids, and people who like kid games.. People clamor for Smash Bros -- but that's not a fighting game, it's rubbish; play Tekken, Street Fighter, or alas Soul Calibur!

The Wii, however, is different. It's not really in the same market as the other consoles -- it's really for either non-gamers, kids, and the parents of older kids; more or less, it's not for me. It's fun and all for about a week, then it becomes a nuisance once you realize the extreme lack of control is really hindering your gameplay rather than enhancing it. A boxing game with a Wii-mote? I'll take a pad any day.. Or at least until someone perfects the technology to make it more accurate for meaningful simulations rather than a fun virtualization of what you may have done... no thanks, reminds me of the Sega Activator.

So.. Nintendo, if you happen to be Cavs fans and are reading this... Bring back fun games for EVERYONE, not just people who don't like video games or young kids who can't afford them... What the hell happened to Metroid, Mario and Luigi, and the concept of RPGs like Final Fantasy.. When I was a kid, SNES was synonymous with Final Fantasy -- wtf happened?

No sports games, no RPGs, no fighting games.. What's the point of the system?

Default Re: Has nintendo lost the hardcore gamer?

N64 was the last system to have any kind of hardcore gamer on it.

You just need more then your first party faithfuls, I had a GameCube for Soul Calibur 2, Pikman 1 and 2, Mario Kart Double Dash, Cartoon Zelda, Metroid Prime and most of all..............RESIDENT EVIL 4!!!!!!!

After I was done with RE4, I got rid of my 'cube and then I took my first hit off of the crack known as Halo 2 Online and then my 2D fighters went online......been down with M$ from that point out.

Yes they have like mentioned about N64 was the downfall of that. But gamecube just killed it for them. But you think they care? Looks at game sales, Nintendo is running the board with the Wii. More then double then the PS3 in sales and then a solid 14 million over the 360.

Don't get me wrong I hate the Wii and would never own it or any Nintendo console out there but the matter of the fact is they are still selling like hot cakes.

Default Re: Has nintendo lost the hardcore gamer?

I stuck with Nintendo since the N64 days and defended GCN throughout its life. I was pissed after Nintendo kept holding the Cube back from ever having a consistent flow of games or online play and then held back Twilight Princess so it could be a Wii title. After that incident I felt the Wii wouldn't be my primary system.

After my parents bought a Wii this summer, I'm glad I don't have to play that gimmick that often. Seriously it's basically GCN 1.5 and now it's like they don't even put any effort into the games. Wii Music really? And to make matters worse people buy this crap when it's the same games that couldn't sell on GCN.

Nintendo has alienated their fans for a while now and I'm kind of disgusted that I supported them for so long.
