This is one of the reasons why Brent Jones was no longer allowed to do a Browns game. Shut the f up you asshole.

I've never been more angry as a fan in my life. I remember this moment like it was yesterday. I would have thrown beer bottles if I was in attendance as well. What a load of bs this was. Browns fans don't let the refs talk advantage of them, haha.

Just another prime example of us (mostly all Cleveland teams) bending over and getting ****ed. I remember my dad was so pissed off about that game but not as much as the Bears game earlier that season.
I went to the Dwayne Rudd game the next season and I'm so glad they got rid of plastic beer bottles and I'm pretty sure they're still available in other stadiums except CBS. It's amazing that the officiating has gotten worse since that point. |

The thing about that game was the way the media spun it.
They were saying that the fans were mad because the refs overturned a call. That's NOT what the fans were mad about. They were mad that the refs overturned the play before the last play which is against the rules. They did not stop play fast enough and the Browns got off the next play and THEN they decided to overturn the previous play. That doesn't condone the behavior of throwing beer bottles. I was caught up in the moment also (I wasn't there tho)....I was sooooo mad that the announcers didn't even get what was going on. They tried to show that the play was blown dead and it was clear that it was not and the Browns got the next play off. |

I didn't remember that they called the game. I had a ticket to the game, but was too hung over to make my way to the stadium ... deeply regret it. A great moment in the history of Cleveland sports fans. "And the officials are pummeled as they head off the field." A completely logical reaction from a football fan in my opinion.

I thought for sure they would start putting laces on the beer bottles after that..

What does it say about your franchise when this is likely the most well-known thing that has happened in the last decade?
![]() I was watching this game in possibly the world's smokiest bar in NYC (thank god for present-day smoking bans). I also remember Carmen Policy addressing the situation in that post-game press conference. Wow, was that guy annoying.

No, he was right. Cleveland Indians fans were to thanks for that. It was a game against the Rangers in the 70s on $.10 beer night. Cleveland Browns fans are to thank for the capless plastic bottles. Here, read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Cent_Beer_Night Regardless, I think they really overexaggerated what went down with the guy who got his "head split open." The announcer was just having a temper tantrum. Luckily Gus Johnson (a top ten announcer) was being as neutral as possible. |

If i were inebriated and in attendance i would have let it fly. I was watching the game at home screaming can't even imagine if i was actually there. Brent Jones is a pansy. I'd throw a bottle at him right now just for being a d-bag.
