2015-2016 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Takes some special to get yourself killed that way. That's all I have to say. Survival of the fittest.

I had a roommate who took too many somas one night. He couldn't find his keys( which he found in his pocket the next morning) so he kicked the door in.

Also it appears that the guy was stayng at his girlfriends house that weekend to visit his daughter. follow a prior argument which she had just got home he had thought he was "locked" out. No mention of posing a menacing threat .

The Shooting was certainly justified but unnecessary.

from the sounds of it had he gone to the right floor he would of went right in . finished their argument and went to sleep and been on his way.

Instead he is dead That's what make its tragic.

was he an abuser ? I don't know maybe he was. maybe he wasn't .

Maybe the shooter shot too soon . perhaps seeing the gun would of been enough to calm him down and write up a settlement check.

we wont know but based on what happened this is a tragedy for all parties involved as the shooter will likely second guess himself and be impacted by this for the rest of his days.

Every time something like this happens someone wants to make a villian out of someone so they can conclude they had it coming. This guy who was killed made a bad decision upon a history of bad decisions and paid the ultimate price but theres no bad guys in this story.

New information is coming out about the death of former ISU basketball player Bryce Dejean-Jones.

Dejean-Jones died after he allegedly broke into a Dallas apartment and was shot early Saturday morning. He was 23.

ESPN reports that an email that the apartment complex sent to its residents Saturday morning said the individual was “believed to be breaking into the apartment of an estranged acquaintance [but] inadvertently broke into the wrong apartment.”

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to an apartment located in the 2500 block of Bennett Avenue in regards to a shooting at approximately 3:20 a.m.

The resident of the apartment told police Dejean-Jones initially kicked open the front door and entered the residence. The resident called out to Dejean-Jones from the bedroom but didn’t receive an answer, according to police.

The former ISU player allegedly proceeded to kick open the bedroom door and the resident fired his gun at him, police say. Dejean-Jones exited the apartment and collapsed in the breezeway after being shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Dejean-Jones’ agent, Scott Nichols, told CNN the player was in the Dallas area for his daughter’s first birthday and to visit his girlfriend. It was the first time Dejean-Jones visited his girlfriend’s new apartment, Nichols said.

According to Nichols, later that evening Dejean-Jones returned to the apartment but went to the incorrect room on the third floor, which was one floor below his girlfriend’s fourth-floor residence.

Dejean-Jones played the 2014-15 season with the Cyclones under former head coach Fred Hoiberg after graduating from UNLV and also previously playing for USC.

He averaged 10.5 points and 4.7 rebounds in 33 games for Iowa State during his lone year with the team, which included 21 starts. Iowa State also made the NCAA Tournament and won the Big 12 Tournament championship in 2014-15.

Dejean-Jones signed a three-year contract with the Pelicans in February after joining the team on consecutive 10-day contracts. He started 11 of 14 games before undergoing surgery for a broken right wrist and missing the rest of the season, ESPN reports.

Police have not said whether any charges will be filed against the shooter, CNN reports.

But Texas is one of many of states that justifies the use of deadly force in certain cases when someone feels threatened in their home.

In recent years, some states — including Texas — have expanded that protection to any place a person “has the right to be.”
Texas and 21 other states have also removed a stipulation that a person has the “duty to retreat” before resorting to force against an attacker, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Especially when it was a 6'6" professional athlete in peak condition? What would your chances be of 'punching him in the mouth' and surviving it?

Apparently it was the wrong door, but if he had found the right door he would have been kicking down his ex-wife's door at 3:30 AM. Also a bad idea!

You'd get the shit beat out of you with nba training and at that size he has super hero strength

Guess I'm missing something. If those are the facts, why would charges even be considered?

Intruded kicks in a front door and a bedroom door and gets shot.

Can there be a clearer cut case of self-defense?

Don't understand why Philly would do this at all. Unless they are getting good draft picks back, but even then, Hawks picks aren't that high. I feel like Noel is worth a lot more.

Or that Teague just isn't that good of a fit in Philly. Yea, he looks decent with 4 other good players around him, but I just don't see him successfully leading a team like the Sixers.

Maybe the Sixers have a plan! Isn't that guy somewhat credible too?

Charania is very credible. Started with RealGM and then Wojo hired him because he beat Wojo to the punch on several trades last year.

If Sixers want to trade Noel, they should do it for no less than a top 10 pick or at least someone a lot better and more promising than Teague. Schroeder is a more realistic starting ground than Teague. But if Hawks can steal Noel like that, good for them I guess.

Like a deal centered around Noel for Toronto's 9th pick wouldn't be a bad idea if they lost Biyombo.

That Noel trade would render Horford expendable and make Millsap's contract look even better.

Yup. Shams is a mini Wojo in my opinion.

Also, trading for Noel, means Horford is gone.
