2015-2016 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Am I the only one who thinks its crazy that this team has a chance (very slim) to win 20 games?

Best case scenario: We win out. And we should make the Big Dance.

Worst case scenario to making the Dance: We gotta beat Nebraska this Saturday. Then lose to MSU or Iowa in a close game and win the other 2. If we beat MSU & Iowa in a span of 2/3 games, that is pretty damn impressive.

This team is starting to gel. Loving is a key factor. That dude is so hit or miss. We need him to play only decent to stay in games.

I am excited for the next 2 years.

It seems we finally have some complimentary parts in place without the fear of losing any one-and-dones...kinda like, you know, how college sports used to (and should) be.

We are guard heavy but they all can score off the dribble. Jae'sean Tate sure is fun to watch when he is playing well. He's deceptively quick and can make plays in the lane...probably my favorite player on the team. Loving is still puzzling...He's been so up and down this season but when he is tuned-in, it changes the entire team dynamic.

Also knowing i will never have to see Amir Williams in a Buckeye uniform ever again has me excited about this team's future potential as well.

True about Williams. We do have two 4* C's coming in next year (undersized 6'9) but that seems to be what a lot of teams are running now.

Sucks we missed out on the #16 ranked PF. Went to Villanova. He was from North Royalton.

Spellman lived in North Royalton for his first three years of high school, but he's originally from New York City, played AAU ball for a NYC-based team and is doing his last year of HS in Massachusetts. Doesn't surprise me he wanted to go to school on the East coast.

Amir has to be on the Mount Rushmore of disliked Buckeyes :chuckle:

He was such a highly-touted recruit. He had all the physical tools as well...it's obvious that there is nothing going on between the ears. Worst body language of any Buckeye i've ever seen.

I saw more moves from Thompson in the post last night in one game than Amir had his entire OSU career.

No way they win out...best case scenario is they win at Nebraska, then upset in at least one of their last 3 games vs top 10 opponents, with 2 of them being at home.

Sets you up with 19 wins heading into the Big 10 tournament with a chance to increase your resume a bit more.

Not sure they can keep out a 20 win OSU with wins over Kentucky and at least one over Iowa or MSU, if they are able to do so...they blew a huge chance at home vs Maryland IMO...they win that and I think they are no longer on the bubble...also, blowing a 2nd half lead at Purdue...

The computer numbers (RPI #78 and SOS #54) are just not quite there. The most damning is the record versus top 50 teams (1-7) and top 100 teams (2-7). The record doesn't look bad, especially in conference play, but there's no meat to the resume.

Need to beat Nebraska and win 2 of 3 between Iowa and MSU. Most bracketology "experts" don't even have us in the bubble conversation as of right now, and for the reasons stated above.

Those two early season losses to Texas Arlington and LA Tech are pretty big blemishes, but the worst are the lack of quality wins. Not being able to close out games against Virginia, Maryland, Purdue, and even an average Memphis team is why this team is destined for the NIT unless it grabs a few huge wins to close out the season.

Here's my thinking. Yes, those early losses kill. But their SOS is about to jump astronomically in the next week or so...getting just a win over Iowa or MSU jumps them way up the RPI as well, and IMO launches them past Michigan, who they just beat and is projected as a lock right now (would have beaten them and would have 2 better wins than Michigan as well).

If they get just 1 win against MSU or Iowa, and then make some noise in the Big 10 tourney, it will be a tough decision to leave them out...2 wins, to me, would just be the cherry on top to what I consider a surprising and overachieving season...but they can't overlook Nebraska.

No way they win out..

Anything can happen.

This may be the moment everything will click and come together and they actually play as a whole and everyone contributes.

I agree on the SOS improving, just was saying as of right now that neither that or the RPI are in our favor. The positive is those can both be improved.

The biggest thing holding the Buckeyes back is their record versus the top 50 and top 100, as well as the lack of any quality road wins. Up to this point (minus the two outlier early season losses) they are a fairly predictable team. They win the games they should win and lose the games they should lose.

Winning 3 of the last 4 would be critical, and would certainly propel them past Michigan. It would have us right there on the cut line, IMO. Meaning if they win one B1G tournament game they are likely a lock. Drop the first game though, and it'll be a long wait on Selection Sunday.

Michigan being a lock is arguable. Maybe up until the past week or two they have been, but most of what I'm seeing has them in the 7-10 seed range with "work to do". If the tournament started today there's a 90% chance they're in it, but if they keep fading then it's more of a toss up as their computer numbers are far from impressive when stacked up against many bubble teams. Still a lot to be determined.

Think we have to win 3 of 4 and then win at least one in the B1G tourney to have a shot. Two wins in the tourney would probably make us a lock.

Beating Kentucky is a bit different than beating the vet teams that Iowa and MSU have...both are on another level from Kentucky.

I am not comparing Kentucky to MSU/Iowa. It is at the same magnitude, though. From your, "no way it happens" statement.

No one thought we could of even sniffed out a game from Kentucky.

And if OSU can play like they did, there's not a "no way it happens" feeling for the next 4 games.
