2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Anthony re-signed with the Knicks on a five-year, $124 million deal in 2014 with a full no-trade clause. While Anthony has a no-trade clause and has said he'd like to remain with the New York Knicks, he could approve a trade to either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Clippers.

"It’s understood that he’d only accept being dealt to the Cavaliers or the Clippers," wrote Charley Rosen, who is perhaps the media member with the closest relationship with Phil Jackson.

Good for him, but I think we'll be fine. He didn't work out for us, it happens.

Well Portland played Harkless today. SO I guess there wasn't any fire around that smoke.

Embiid is becoming a monster. I still doubt he will stay healthy unfortunately (past history plus he just plays completely reckless out there), but if he does, watch out...

Jokic is such a fun player to watch. Part of the fun is that his face always looks like he's completely exhausted, even one minute into the game.

If you were to just measure centers based on the last 20 games played, Jokic is the best in the league.

As long as you only focus on offense.

There's definitely some truth to this statement. Jokic is a beastly offensive player (130 ORTG), but he has some pretty bad advanced stats for defense (110 DRTG & really bad DFG% differentials). He's still 21 though so he might figure the defensive side out eventually.

I agree with you, and I'm not attacking you because a ton of people do this, and it's something that is bugging me. "Net rating" stats are not "advanced metrics." They are counting stats. If a 12 year old could do the math, it is not an advanced metric. Neither is DFG% for the same reason.

Advanced metrics are any metric where you need to train a computer software to notice trends, as is the case with Synergy and SportVU data. Or, on the other hand, any stats where you need to run a statistical regression. Anything else is not advanced, rather, it's just a stat.

But yeah, Jokic is an awful defensive player. It's painful to watch.
