Here is a list of my Top 15 players as we head into the offseason.
1. Myles Garrett - EDGE - Texas A&M - What can be said that hasn't been already? He's an elite edge defender who has dramatically improved against the run, making him the most complete player in this draft and one of the best prospects I've seen in a long time.
2. Jonathan Allen - DL - Alabama - He's got the right size and natural athleticism to excel at the next level. What makes him truly great is how advanced he is with his hand placement and playing with leverage at the point of attack. Just tossing blockers away and making countless stops against the run.
3. Solomon Thomas - DL - Stanford - The closest thing to Aaron Donald since he exploded into the league a few years ago. I admittedly slept on Thomas because I didn't see much of Stanford this year, but after his performance in the bowl game I went back and watched a few of his games. Incredibly explosive for his size, he's going to blow out the combine. Just too fast to be blocked by guys on the interior.
4. Derek Barnett - EDGE - Tennessee - He's got a quicker first step than Myles Garrett and is probably stronger at the point of attack right now as well. Has natural bend and dips underneath tackles with ease at times. This dude is in consideration at the top of the draft without Garrett.
5. Leonard Fournette - RB - LSU - May become the most slept on player in this draft because of all the defensive talent. He's an explosive playmaker who will dominate the league if healthy.
6. Dalvin Cook - RB - Florida State - I've got him higher than most because his lateral quickness and acceleration are perfectly suited for the blocking schemes of the NFL. Similar to Zeke at how he can jump cut to either side and seemingly land at full speed going vertically. True three-down back.
7. Jamal Adams - S - LSU - In the box safety who is more adept at tracking down runners than any safety I've seen in a long time. Takes angles at an elite level, with the closing speed and tactical skills which will make him an All-Pro.
8. Malik Hooker - S - Ohio State - The rangier, free safety prototype made a name for himself with elite skills with the ball in the air. What people may not realize is how good he is coming up in run support and his tackling ability. He's been coached very well and it shows.
9. Reuben Foster - ILB - Alabama - The best in a long line of MIKE backers to come out of Tuscaloosa. He's a missile, great at stretching plays out laterally and closing on the ball. Scheme independent, he can play in any defense and excel because of his skill-set.
10. Ryan Ramczyk - OT - Wisconsin - Best OT Wisconsin has produced since Joe Thomas. He's got great feet and uses his hands well, getting him to the second level when called upon. His lack of experience and hip injury could hurt his draft stock, but he'll be an elite player in the league if healthy.
11. Mike Williams - WR - Clemson - As many saw in the National Championship game, his ability to go get the ball in the air is elite. Overall, he can make plays all over the field and has the size/speed combo to be an elite receiver in this league.
12. TJ Watt - OLB - Wisconsin - His motor and instincts for the position will ensure he overachieves his natural ability at the next level. Well coached at shedding blockers against the run and wrapping up.
13. OJ Howard - TE - Alabama - Not sure I've seen a more complete tight end in a number of years. The athleticism of a wide receiver, he's got great hands, blocks well. Total package for the position and a future All-Pro.
14. Teez Tabor - CB - Good hips and turn and run ability, despite not being the fastest guy out there. Has a big frame and can probably play more physical if he's coached properly in the NFL.
15. Zach Cunningham - ILB - Vanderbilt - This dude is such an enigma but I can't help but put him on this list. When you watch the tape he plays high and gets blocked out of plays too often, but he just racks up tackles and big plays to the point where you can see his potential shine through.
