2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd love to get Booker to play opposite of Garrett. We'd be unstoppable.

Can you imagine if he was on the team, all of the spinaroonies going on whenever a touchdown or huge sack happened? Fuck it's the Browns so there wouldn't be too many I guess.

PFF:

1.) Myles Garrett, Edge defender, Texas A&M

Cleveland is in a unique spot, with a plethora of top picks in the draft. While the need for a quarterback is pressing, the Browns can exhibit some level of patience knowing they have another pick at No. 12 and an early second-rounder, both strong ammunition to either get a quarterback or move up to do so. With that in mind, they’re going to draft the top player on the board in Garrett who has the skills to become an elite edge rusher in the NFL. Garrett has ranked among the top edge defenders in the nation for three straight years, and he has the athleticism and power to back up his performance. That combination bodes well for his NFL future, and he’s a cornerstone piece to build around on the defensive side of the ball.

12.) Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
(from Philadelphia Eagles)

The Browns do not pass up the opportunity to add another game-changer to the roster as Cook’s big-play ability is as good as it gets in the draft. The play here is to grab one of the second-round-worthy quarterbacks either at the top of the round or perhaps by trading back into round one to secure their spot (Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech is a viable option). Adding Cook to the offense brings a player capable of scoring any time he touches the ball as he’s capable of sneaking through the slightest crease to create a big play. Cook also showed capable of maximizing subpar blocking in 2016, leading the nation with 90 missed tackles forced and averaging 4.2 yards after contact per rush.

I mean I have always been on the boat to adding Fournette/Cook (depending what DEF person falls to 12)

But no way I see that happening with Hue's love of Crow and Dukey's ability to catch & run.

Just how good of a tandem do you thing Crow and Duke is, though? I see Duke as injury prone so I don't think it would be a reach at 12 to draft either of those guys.

Crow himself is a big play guy. He had 8 runs of 20+ yards good for 5th in the NFL before. The only guys ahead of him were Zeke, Shady, Ajayi, and Jordan Howard. All of which had over 200 carries (Crow had 198. Shady was the lowest of those ahead of Crow with 234).

Crow was tied for second in the league of runs of 40+ yards with 3. Ajayi with 4 was the only player ahead of him.

He also had the longest rush in the NFL this season with an 85 yard run.

He was second in the NFL in YPC against an 8 man front with 5.88 per carry.

The more I watch Patrick Mahomes, the more and more I want him badly.

Crow is good enough that you don't take a RB high in the draft when you have so many holes. IMO Duke is pretty average and I wouldn't have a problem with them trying to find a better spark/change of pace back in the middle rounds. Not once last year did I think that if the Browns had a good RB, they would be in a better position to win a game. The problems were QB, Cam Erving, and they need anyone that can make plays on defense. I love Cook but would be disappointed if they took him.

I prefer Cook over Fournette. Wouldn't HATE him if none of the defensive studs fall as I've seen comparisons to Shady and Chris Johnson. However its worth noting the Browns were 2nd in the league in yard per attempt with Crow and Duke back there.

If the Browns are interested in taking a running back beyond the first round, some interesting names I'd be inclined to see in orange and brown are:

Alvin Kamara - Tennessee (2nd-3rd round range)
Jamaal Williams - BYU (2nd-4th round range)
Elijah Hood - UNC (4th+)

I think Dalvin Cook is excellent, but there's no way I'd pick him (or Fournette) over Solomon Thomas.

I've seen Kamara sneaking into the first round discussion lately. I believe Mike Mayock said he is first-round worthy, as well.
