2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I certainly think there's a tact way to dance around "my coach doesn't think I'm as good". He could say, "I came into a system where Williams was already embedded and had to acclimate myself to the team's system so that when I do play, my presence doesn't hinder the comfort the rest of the team has." That's literally all he could have said. Do I think his answers are completely arrogant? No. Confidence is good. Did he nail the answer? No.

It's also pretty easy to concoct a politically correct statement when posting on a forum :chuckle: Not a jab at you obviously, just saying...not all of these guys are super media savvy at this point.

Lol, true. That said, if their agents aren't prepping these top-tier picks with some interview jargon, they're blowing it. Pretty important for these guys to nail interviews.

Yeah, I think it's really a tough question to handle. I imagine his people had scripted him a bit, and this is what came out.

That said, he honestly probably would've been a better starter than Williams...

It's small, but I don't like the way Trubusky answers questions about himself or his performance.

Saying "I went out here and did what I needed to do" after his Pro Day yesterday was an eye roller for me as well.

Some want to call this swagger or confidence. But really, it's just being an asshole.

I don't really mind the answer. He has two larger concerns for me:

1. None of his teammates went to his birthday party.
2. I heard the Browns gave him a playbook with a $100 bill in it to see if he'd read it and if he'd return the money. He only returned the money when pressed.

Fedora has basically said as much. Carzon Wentz did not start until he was a redshirt junior. Flacco had to transfer to a FCS school because he couldn't start over Tyler Palko. I don't remember this many questions about why those guys had trouble starting. Honestly it just seems like a lazy effort of criticism at this point.

The whole "Mitchell" thing is enough of an eyeroll for me.

He's a hard pass for me.

You can't even say Mitch Trombonski anymore at Christmas. You have to say Mitchell Holidays or some liberal mumbo jumbo poppycock.

Wentz had so many questions about him the browns chose not to draft him, and has so.far proved nothing.

Flacco had a huge number questions about him and still does.

I think it sounded better than 'I showed those brooms who is the next QB stud*'...

*I have never really paid attention to these pro days I just assume all throw against brooms like JFF did

Trubisky's answer to the "why couldn't you beat out Williams" question is should simply be that Williams was a senior QB who lead the team to a 11-3 record while being responsible for 37 touchdowns passing/receiving, passing for 3,000 and running for another 1,000.

The real answer to the underlying question of how he accounts for his relative lack of starting game experience is simply that he forfeited the opportunity to gain the experience he lacks by exercising his right to forego his senior year of eligibility and declare for the NFL draft IN ORDER TO GET THAT MONEY.

Minimizing Williams' contribution to a winning UNC football program is unnecessary and really has nothing to due with Trubisky's lack of experience; its his own decision to pursue the dollar that is responsible. And that's ok in capitalist America!

So, the Combine and most Pro Days have happened. I am going to bring back my poll just to see how everyone is viewing the Browns QB situation for 2017.

Realistically speaking, what is your ideal outcome, including draft, for the QB position?

1. Starter
2. Back-up
3. 3rd string and/or practice sqaud

GO!!!

Definitely odd. I will say, he rolled that back a few days ago and said his mom prefers Mitchell, which is why he said that. Said he really doesn't care.
