2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking at INT should be such a minor piece of a team's thought process when drafting a safety.

There are more important things not to like about Peppers from his tape.

Bingo.

I asked a question about who is off your board a week or so ago; Peppers, Kizer, Cook.

Absolutely not under any circumstance.

Kizer under some circumstances for me.

Peppers is for sure, he's not good enough to warrant the pick at a defensive position.

Cook, eh. Tough. He's not in pass pro and that limits what teams can do with him. There is just more value later on that can be had.

I just feel like Kizer was stupid not to stay. theres a handful of QBs I'd rather have sprinkled throughout the draft.

Agreed on Peppers. He's one of those dynamic college players who gets by on athleticism. He screams Taylor Mays. Ultra talented college safety who just isn't good enough to start in the pros. I'd rather stick with what we have.

Cook is a guy who looks great on tape, put up great numbers, and yet I just feel it won't translate. And he's certainly not worth where he'll likely go.

Honest question here -- how common are serious pec injuries in the absence of 'roids?

That is a huge jump, in my opinion. I think all of these Pro Day injuries are a result of the pressure a prospect feels to raise their stock for more money. If an achilles goes, there were warning signs leading up. Kids blow out their bodies for a last minute stock jump.

Do the Browns have the luxury of going with Takk if they're taking Myles Garrett? Is this a smoke-screen? Or, are the Browns seriously considering not taking Garrett?

Doing a comprehensive look at the top talents is smart. Never know if someone or some trade drops in your lap. Also, they do work up on players now to create a dossier on them. This will help when these players become free agents in a few years.

Thank Christ people have finally come to their senses about Peppers. Dude was an absolute myth in College.

Been saying this for awhile now. Peppers is an undersized athlete that didn't necessarily excel at any position in college. He just happened to be slightly better than your above-average college player at multiple positions and the media was eager to push the Peppers narrative because UM looked like they were back on top thanks to Harbaugh.

Too short to play in the secondary. Not enough weight to play in the box. Not fast enough to get serious looks at RB. All those coupled with the fact that in order to get the best out of him, you need to pair him with an unconventional coach. "Athletes" are coveted in college, not the pros.

It's small, but I don't like the way Trubusky answers questions about himself or his performance.

Saying "I went out here and did what I needed to do" after his Pro Day yesterday was an eye roller for me as well.

Some want to call this swagger or confidence. But really, it's just being an asshole.

I have no problem with the way he answered it. If he is there at 12 i wouldnt mind taking him although i know Mitchell is an early 2nd round pick.

My only question is what should he have said then?

In terms of failing to beat out Williams, he said positives, too. Is he supposed to say "I'm actually not as good of a player as he was?"

I guess everybody perceives things differently. Shooting straight to Trubisky is an asshole seems a bit harsh.

There haven't been any reports that I'm aware of mentioning that Mr. Biscuit was anything but a good team guy. And when he did get his chance, he broke records.

I don't really think blaming the coaches decision on him not playing is the right way to go about that.

I get that he's being trained to display confidence and what not, but thought he's been pouring it on a bit much lately.

When they ask why you didn't beat someone out for a spot like that, it's kind of a no-win question. You can't just say you weren't as good, but if you say you thought you did win the spot it makes you look like a dick.

I certainly think there's a tact way to dance around "my coach doesn't think I'm as good". He could say, "I came into a system where Williams was already embedded and had to acclimate myself to the team's system so that when I do play, my presence doesn't hinder the comfort the rest of the team has." That's literally all he could have said. Do I think his answers are completely arrogant? No. Confidence is good. Did he nail the answer? No.
