2018 Cleveland Browns Training Camp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Now I see PFT tweeted that alleged quote 3 days ago, so it's old news? Whatever. Gave me the heebie jeebies though.

Probably out of context. If he's looking at the camera, that's likely an interview situation and it's probably much less incendiary than it sounds. If he's in mid-conversation with Hue, another story. Probably belongs in the Hard Knocks thread anyway. Carry on.

I agree with this take

"This is not a smart coach people. 1-31 doesn’t happen by chance. Either he should’ve really punished him, or said, “He’s a rookie that is going to be suspended and we need to get him as many reps before then as possible,” followed by a “sorry not sorry.”"

You can't say that it is punishment. It like he's saying, "Haha...that'll teach him. If you break the rules, I'll play you more minutes in a meaningless game so the odds of you getting hurt will increase!"

What is the quote? Nothing more frustrating than reading all of this not knowing what put everyone into a tizzy.
Well the tweets are now deleted, but it basically said "in the next episode of Hard Knocks, Haley is going to look directly into the camera and say 'Baker not being on the field is not my decision'".

This is the original PFT tweet, which is still up. This was during the preseason game:

King saw it and thought it was legit, posted it in his MMQB article (or whatever its called now) with some added commentary about how the Browns may or may not ask to take it out of the episode* and how it reveals major friction in the coaching staff. Intrepid Browns best reporter read it, tweeted "So this is gonna be a thing" shortly after the article posted. I wondered why NOW, since the quote was old and no one said anything about it. It blew up on local radio and someone apparently clued Peter King into the fact that the original tweet was a joke. Most of the tweets and article bits are down now, though the original joke quote seems to still be up.

*I've heard that the team can only review and excise parts of the show that reveal sensitive football information. Xs and Os discussion, stuff on whiteboards, etc. It's possible Peter King got this wrong too.

First off, Pro Football Talk making jokes like that should take some heat too. They’re not the right PFT to make jokes because so many people take shit literally on twitter.

Second, I literally just defended King the other day for his admitting of how awful the Robin Williams tweet was and why he just had to lay into it and leave it up. But then he just makes a clown of himself.
