2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Scoochie brings something else to the table.

Isaiah Taylor is of the same mold as Nwaba and Sexton; Athletic and plays hard.

Scoochie brings something different that imho we need more. And I think he is currently the better player as well.

But realistically, it's just a camp invite.

Yeah Scoochie is big too which means you could play him with Sexton if you wanted to. I guess Scoochie gets the invite too?

I don't think the thinking is to find another PG to pair with Sexton. I think Koby is trying to find someone to pair with Clarkson. I think the that's why they brought in Nwaba and Taylor.

Scoochie has an invite to come to summer league on the table. He said he is weighting his options in the article below. I'm not sure Scoochie fits next to Clarkson though. It's worth seeing in training camp and preseason but I don't think we will push the issue to keep Scoochie or Taylor if they don't seem to work with Clarkson.

What type of player is the best to put next to a combo guard? Is it a guy like Nwaba? I think it might be. A guy who plays defense, doesn't need the ball to be effective, and can score opportunistically?

I do think it is really interesting what has been said about Clarkson. The Cavs still like him despite his playoff performance, whereas they have clearly cooled on Hood.

Jordan is not smart, but he was really effective at times. I think maybe playing in Los Angeles he lost sight of what he was supposed to do. If he is serious about getting better, I think he really could be a nice player, but he has to recognize his teammates, and he has to work on consistency with his shot because it just comes and goes with the wind.

I'm not a big Hood fan but he could have value as an outside shooter. I think if Clarkson could become a team player he could be very good. Nwaba seems to be a "slasher" he doesn't have much of an outside game. He needs shooters on the floor with him to keep things open.

We have played Clarkson with Hood and basically Hood never get the ball unless he rebounds it. Nwaba can drive the ball and take it end to end because he is a rebounder. I dunno. Neither Hood or Clarkson pass much.

I think Nwaba might be the type of players to put next to Clarkson if you want Clarkson to run the point for the second unit. I personally think that if you can take the ball out of Clarkson's hands that he would be more effective. I think a Clarkson and Nwaba backcourt is the fall back plan. The Cavs seem to try to find another PG to pair with Clarkson in free agency but didn't seem to get anyone to sign until Taylor.

I don't think the Cavs have cooled on Hood though. Hood wasn't a player that you built your second unit around. I think Hood would fit better as a starter than as offense off the bench. I think like it or not we are stuck with Clarkson and have to make due with trying to use him effectively. I think the last couple moves were to build a second unit that could complement Clarkson as much as get guys who won't go nuts playing with him day in and day out.

Crotchety 34 year old LeBron James and his team of misfits have to travel the third most miles of any team in the league?

Why is ESPN picking an Cavs/lolnets game? :)

Also, good graphic form from nba.com below. Not sure why they are including Atlanta among that category, other than it being the one game from that list that we'll likely be favored in - well, ok, it's the home opener and everything.

Looks like the I-77 Bowl, which we've had as the last game a few times before, will have significant lottery or playoff implications for both teams. We get a grueling west trip to secure a lottery spot right before it.

I like that term "I-77 Bowl".
I might just kauf tickets to the 12/5 game against Golden Piss just so I can boo Donkeylips in person

I think Hood suffered from us not having a second guard who could attack the paint and suck in the defense. Him and G Hill are a terrible fit. I do like him in the starting lineup. I can see Sexton's penetration really opening up the perimeter for him to get cleaner looks.

Starters:

Sexton
Hood
Cedi
Love
Zizic

Bench:
Hill
Clarkson
Nwaba/Korver
Nance
Frye

There's simply zero minutes on this team for TT & Jr any longer. Talk about deadweight. Damn!
