Bro if a student athlete doesn’t have the understanding or urgency to have someone else do their school work and pass their tests, then let’s just go ahead and call that a maroon flag.

Not sure if I’m serious or not.

I keep hearing good things about Beal's game... That said, is his work ethic simply limited to football? 95% of guys get those credits somehow.

Nobody is infallible and I certainly wish the dude well, but when a coach uses these superlatives about a supplemental draft player, I'm wondering why such a super guy couldn't get himself set on the right path 12 months ago.

I think there was some sort of family health issue that forced him to miss some time, putting his eligibility in danger.

Not sure of the whole story.

That'd certainly be an extenuating circumstance. And frankly, an embarrassing look for WMU/the NCAA.

It sounds like to me Beal isn't the guy who has had the bunch of off the field issues like a fair amount of the supplement draft guys do. Honestly if his interviews do well and he grades as a 2nd round talent, I wouldn't be afraid to go get him in the draft. I know we spent a lot in our secondary already, but if he has the talent then why not. I don't expect this kid to be a guy like Gordon with amazing talent, but cannot stay clean. Seems like an unlucky kid with college, who is a day two talent.

As a hardcore MACtion follower, Darius Phillips stuck out on the field way more than Beal did, and Phillips got drafted in the 5th (and is a dynamic ST player to boot). The hype I'm seeing on social media seems to be a little unsubstantiated. If he was a 1st or 2nd round talent he would have declared this year, especially considering he should have had an idea his eligibility would have been in limbo.

I suspect that if there were truly extenuating circumstances, his agents would be pushing that story big-time.
