Get Excited Somewhere Else: John Dorsey

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fuck how does that even happen?

What happen?

Scot was probably brought in to help the transition since he speaks Dorsey’s languages and Dorsey didn’t have that knowledge/relationship with the holdover Browns scouting staff.

Scot wasn’t going to hang around here as, at best, the 4th most powerful FO guy.

He can go back to good money as an indispensenr consultant and wait out his turn to be the #1 or #2 guy somewhere. Wasn’t going to happen here with Wolf and Highsmith brought in first by Dorsey.

I think he meant how do scouts and player personnel guys keep their jobs for 13-15 years in an organization that hasn’t made the playoffs in that stretch and royally fucks up the draft every year.

Dorsey has parted ways with the Director of Player Personnel and Director of College Scouting, both of which held the job for 13 years. Four long-time scouts were also dismissed.

Amazing the Browns had such a long streak of bad rosters yet these guys always had job security.

This happened last week. Andrew Berry is still up in the air, shocked he’s still there right now.

Incredibly depressing summation of our ownership.

We had to talk Haslam in to firing a guy, who was won 3 games in 2.5 years, for reasons unknown.

We don't deserve Dorsey.

You're overthinking this one.

A lot of times owners tend to get closer to head coaches from a personal standpoint and have trouble letting them go (Look at Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown for christ sake).. If anything, this is a positive outlook for the Browns because you see an owner giving the freedom to a GM, who truly knows the day to day business of running an NFL team, to do what he believes is best for the franchise.

This is a great point. Jimmy waffled, but ultimately made the right decision and backed his GM. That's what matters.

The absolute key for an organization is to find the right GM, and give him the authority to run the organization. For everything the Haslams have done wrong, it looks like finding and hiring Dorsey was a home run. This move signifies that Dorsey is now the guy really running this franchise, and that's really starting to look like the best news for Browns fans in a long time.

I agree, Jimmy has tried hitching his wagon to his head coach and now it appears he has hitched his wagon to Dorsey, which is the correct stance for him to take. I believe Haslam will defer to Dorsey as long as things keep heading in the right direction, which has been the case since Dorsey was hired.
