Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is Johnson ready for the majors?

No. Definitely not quite yet, I think he’s penned in for Double-A with a chance for a September call up.

But let’s hope this corner is turned developmentally, he’s got enough tools to play up here for sure.

I have a quarter season plan and may end up with the chance to get tickets, but after seeing all the prices, I may just pass. Not sure if worth the trouble of selling the other games/events that I do not want to attend.

Have you received any info on buying yet? I'm a quarter season ticket holder and haven't received anything yet.

Speaking of ASG festivies. Are they planning on doing a fan fest? I remember that back in 97 and it was amazing. I can’t remember where it was, but they had everything baseball you can imagine. Batting gloves of players. Huge wall of every team and their minor league affiliates, Louisville Slugger was there with demonstrations on how they make their bats.

Yes they are. They are going to have most of it at the convention center. If you are in the area, they may still be looking for volunteers. I was going to do it but I have a wedding/work that weekend/week.

Volunteering info was on the Indians website a month back.

The FanFest is a must-go for any baseball fan. I've gone to four of them over the years and have never come away from it disappointed.

That was one of my favorite childhood memories. It was at a convention center.

Indians just sent an email to Quarter Season ticket holders regarding ASG strips. You have to renew for the 2020 season between Mar 11-18 to guarantee strips. If anyone is interested in tickets for any of the events, shoot me a PM, I may end up renewing early.

Edit: It's all the events and a choice of the Home Run Derby or All Star Game, not bot.

Lindor took batting practice and ground balls for the first time this spring. That right there is the best sign all spring.

Seems like he is on the shorter side of the 7 week timeline, I still think the Indians will get him some minor league at bats as a spring this year, but it sounds like he won't be out long.

I am going to a game late march, it would be awesome if he is taking in game bats in 3 weeks and I get to see him. I am running a risk by going to one of the last games that none of the MLB players will be playing, or atleast not many, but seeing Lindor is always fun, even if for only 3 innings of fielding.

Baseball is such a different game live. I rather watch football or basketball at home for the view, but baseball needs to be seen live to appreciate it.

With this seasons camp battles, you may see a bunch of guys playing late into spring. Actually Kluber, Clev, and Carrasco won't play innings until later and even though I said stuff about how camp is looking right now, the OF, SS, utility spot and bullpen are still pretty fluid and could change. Its possible both Zimmer and Lindor get some ABs in late spring.

Personally I like baseball the best of all the major sports!

What I'd guess for opening day..

1. C, Perez
2. C, Plawecki
3. 3B, Ramirez
4. SS, ?
5. 2B, Kipnis
6. 1B, Santana
7. 1B, Bauers
8. UTIL, ?
9. OF, Martin
10. OF, Luplow
11. OF, Allen
12. OF, Joyce
13. SP, Kluber
14. SP, Bauer
15. SP, Carrasco
16. SP, Clevinger
17. SP, Bieber
18. RP, Hand
19. RP, Perez
20. RP, Cimber
21. RP, Olson
22. RP, Clippard
23. RP, Wilson
24. RP, Otero
25. ? Extra OF or extra bullpen arm- Naquin or Jon Edwards

I feel pretty good about that bullpen, especially with guys like Edwards, Goody, Cody Anderson, and hopefully Salazar as options down the road as well.

1. C, R Perez
2. C, Plawecki
3. 3B, J Ramirez
4. SS, Moroff
5. 2B, Kipnis

7. DH, H Ramirez
8. UTIL, Flaherty?

9. OF, Martin
10. OF, Luplow
11. OF, Allen

20. RP, O Perez
21. RP, Cimber
22. RP, Olson
23. RP, Clippard
24. RP, Wilson
25. RP, Otero

Changes/filling in blanks in bold. Think Joyce is on the outside looking in with Naquin likely taking RF and the Indians determined to find something in Hanley Ramirez. Bieber joins the 25 once he is needed in place of Neil Ramirez. I'd guess Flaherty as a veteran makes the roster over some of the younger options so they continue to get regular playing time in the minors.

Do we think Perez will start hitting better now that he will be the majority catcher? We all know the defense is there, but can he hit .230 with more regular at bats?

He's always had a good walk rate, so I guess the hope is that his power numbers will rebound to what they were prior to last year.

Problem is, his strikeout numbers have risen substantially in each of the past two seasons.

Best case?

Hope for .215/.315/.385

I would take that for sure.

Bookmark that and lets see how close he gets. I know you said best case, but wouldn't it be awesome if he got close to those numbers?
