Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If he’s healthy, I absolutely can see Joyce starting either in LF or at DH against right handed pitching.

He’s only a year removed from 24 HR in 399 ABs with an .855 OPS against RHP.

Hanley, if he makes it at all, would probably strictly be a DH against LHP.

Not sure there’s enough room to keep Joyce and Hanley both.

Can absolutely see Joyce being kept over Naquin.

From an organizational depth chart perspective, it’s hard not to see them trading one of Naquin, Zimmer, or Allen. Just a log jam of similar youngish OF types, especially with the additions of Luplow and Mercado.

Make or break year for all 3 of them, as far as their time with the Indians is concerned.

I think we have a pretty good idea of who Naquin is- decent average, doesn’t walk, not much power, solid corner OF defense. The other two seem to have ceilings that are quite a bit higher, IMO

If I had to make a decision today...

v. LHP
DH: Santana
SS: Lindor
3B: Ramirez
LF: Joyce
1B: Bauers
2B: Kipnis
RF: Allen
CF: Martin
C: Perez

I want Allen and Bauers playing every day if possible. Joyce and Martin get platooned with Hanley and Luplow.

I feel like Naquin is one of the worst defensive OF's in baseball. I know he's not--but man, is he a case where I'm willing to put some stats aside after what I've seen him do. He has the talent to be a plus guy, but dear god does he make dumb errors that no major leaguer should.

If we make the WS, and start Naquin, I think I trust him to make at least one huge error miffing a flyball or knocking himself out running headfirst into the foul pole.

He was awful in 2016, most of his innings coming in CF

He was much better last year in RF

Just saw prices for the All Star festivities, they are Pricey!

After fees/taxes, it's $400 for standing room / upper right field cargo container bullshit area. And that's as cheap as it gets.

Holy shit. Can't even imagine what Dolan is going to want for parking.

Yeah, I mean, I want to go really badly, but my buddies and I really don't want to do standing room only seating, but we're also all poor college kids that don't want to break the bank to watch a few Indians (maybe Kluber, Lindor, Bauer, and Jose?) pitch an inning and get an AB or two.

I might just go to the HR Derby and go to the Parrot for the ASG.

Cheapest Derby tix are likely to be around $150-200 I think.

This is what I'm targeting, as I don't have too much interest in the game.
