Diet and Workout Routines

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since January 11, 2018, a co-worker and I entered into a workout challenge with the gyms GM. It was actually his idea. He asked me what’s a good amount of days to work out normally. I said 5. He was going to give me a dollar for every workout he missed.

It evolved from there. Other co-workers added their 2 cents and we ended up creating an account in which all persons involved have a scan card to track their workouts. 5 scan ins per week, and for each workout you miss, you owe $5. If you decide to tap out, you have to pay $50. All participants signed and the head of PT signed as a witness.

There are 3 of us participating.... or should I say, there are 3 of us that are supposed to participate. It’s now week 3, and I’ve been consistent, and so has my co-worker. The GM, who is in desperate need of losing weight had only worked out 1 time. He hasn’t given any money for the missed workouts. At this point, he’s in the whole $45. So I’m sure next week we’ll tell him to pay the $50 and tap out.

What’s annoying is that this was all his idea, and his follow through is non-existent. This is not about the money. I watch him expand every year. Someone who literally has the keys to workout and doesn’t do it.... I know there has to be deeper issues going on.

Anyways, I’m killing it with the workouts. I started slow with week one. And upped my workouts week 2, adding 2-a-days. I’m averaging 9 workouts a week. So that’s the plus. I’m just disappointed that the person who needs it the most, isn’t even trying. He brings in his workout bag just about everyday.... for nothing.

I don’t know his rock bottom, but he hasn’t hit it yet.

I started doing legs.

45 degree machine hack squats gonna have to do, fuck the real thing.

Somebody going on vacation? That's what you get for not having a lifelong pursuit of fitness and nutrition.:chuckle:

So for this short amount of time, I'd focus more on the nutrition than the exercise. For exercise, I would say just go slow and alternate cardio and lifting. Don't get injured either.

For nutrition, post-superbowl diet should be under 100g net carbs/day. Plan ahead before you go to the grocery store. Make sure your go-to snacks are veggies and add a 4th meal (salad) when you are the most hungry. Quit drinking all sodas. Quit drinking alcohol too, and if that's not possible, at least don't do it during the week (the gym will help). Drink lots of water.

A week before the trip, you can try to flush out any remaining liquid with the cabbage soup diet. Avoid salty foods 2 days before your trip.

This is why dieting sucks, however if you can stick to that script, you can certainly come back and find a balance with a much less strict regimen.

Chances are you've been eating like shit and have poop in your gut and are carrying water weight.

You'll lose 8 pounds or so if you actuslly start right now, for real, there alone. Another 9 is possible through diet. You have to start literally right now and you can't fuck up.

Work on your diet. Calories in calories out. Diet with the bend but don't break rule. If you get a craving, eat something enjoyable but don't choose a cake.

So my own personal shit but I started a diet at the very beginning of September and I was 262 and today I got under 200 for the first time since I literally don't know when, down to 198.

Yea, that's a ton of weight in 6-7 months and no, I wouldn't recommend my own, personal, made up diet. I know it hasn't been healthy. Had I consulted a doctor or dietitian, they'd have told me not to do what I have been doing. But I'm alive, fully functioning, and down a ton of weight. So it's worked out.

Ironman training is in full effect. It hasn't been that bad yet. Some of the multi-discipline training days can be a pain in the ass, but it isn't that bad if I break it up. I usually do my swims in the morning and any runs/bikes in the afternoon after work. I've been getting after it for awhile now and I really do enjoy it. I've already decided that I'll be doing a full next year, assuming that I finish in my goal range.

Does anyone have any supplements for recovery that they could recommend? My body is adjusting, but the end of the week is starting to kick my ass. I take protein after most workouts, but I'm not bouncing back the way I used to. I have a recovery week coming up in in a few weeks that should help, but I still need an extra kick. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

First post in this thread in over 2 months. C'mon ya lards! Where you at @David. ?

The past few months I've been getting back into working out 2-4 days a week. Amazing how being newly single can motivate you like that. Looking to take it a step further and start concentrating on my diet, at least from now through the next part of the summer.

I'm familiar with intermittent fasting and have done that in the past (16-8)..super easy. What I'm also thinking of adding into the mix is the keto diet. I have seen some SERIOUS results for the handful of people I've seen on the keto diet. To me, it seems like the best thing out there.

I guess what I'm looking for is thoughts on the Keto diet and if there is any real benefit with combining that with intermittent fasting.

I'm fucking sick of sandwiches and I stalled out at 189.

Just started on tren again. Would be cool to recomp .

Ironman training has started to pick up

Distances have gone up in all three disciplines. I break it up to make it a bit easier to recover, usually do one short and one long workout of each a week. I do my shorter distances during the week and try to get longer distance in on the weekend.

I feel pretty confident in the swim. I'm able to get about 1,000 yards in under 20 minutes without rest, goal is to be out of the water in 35 minutes.

The run just sucks, I'm not a runner and I have a hard time getting up for this damn workout twice a week.

I'm not really worried about the bike, bought a Trek Domane and have been training on it for a couple weeks.

Think I'll be doing a full next summer, either in Madison or Louisville

Diet has been so damn clean the last week. Finally got myself to get to the gym.

Have been doing strictly cardio though, I really am not all that great with form when lifting. Don’t really know where to start. Want to cut about 10 pounds and add a little definition.

Any suggestions for a guy who never really lifted much? Only for a short stretch about 6 years ago.

On tren cycle. I'm fucking miserable .So emotional. Depressed.

Dropping ten and then gonna bulk on this.
