Josh Gordon discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
JG's issue isn't weed. It's that he can never piss clean. I remember reading that all players know when they're being drug tested before they enter the league's drug protocol and it's basically once a year.

My fat ass can piss clean in 11 days. I've smoked weed regularly for 10+ years. I can't get popped for THC when i renew my ADD medication or else they will take away my prescription so through trial and error, i figured out what i need to do so that doesn't happen.

Josh has never figured that out and he's the one that could be making $15 million a year.

It's also not difficult to quit smoking weed. I've quit smoking it numerous times for various reasons. When I was looking for a job after college, I stopped smoking because I had no idea if I'd suddenly be asked to take a drug test on short notice. When I decided to leave my first post-college job and find another job, I stopped smoking for basically the same reason. When I first moved to North Carolina I didn't smoke for a while because I had no connects to buy it. No big deal. I quit smoking for a while in high school because my parents almost caught me and so I took a step back for a few months.

This isn't crack we're talking about here. This shit isn't addictive. I've smoked basically every day for the past month. Ran out last night. Am I clawing my eyes out today because I don't have any? No, of course not, nor am I in a rush to get my guy on the phone to get more. I'll get more at some point, but if it's a week, it's a week. If it's longer, whatever.

It is for some people. Anything that provides escape

People are caught up in the Josh Gordon weed narrative, but most substantive reporting goes as follows: The 2013 (2-game) suspension was for codeine, the 2014 (full year) suspension was marijuana and the 2015 suspension was for alcohol. Early 2016 he was denied reinstatement due to a dilute sample (hello Jabrill Peppers). They reinstated him later that year, but then he checked into rehab, again, reportedly for alcohol.

All I know is Josh Gordon was absolutely a malcontent when he came back to a 7-4 Browns team led by Brian Hoyer. He was not the Josh Gordon his fans will tell you he always has been; quit on routes, dropped balls, moped, & aided in the decline that happened thereafter. If he comes back like that, I'd want to cut bait. If he comes back motivated to salvage his career and recognizes how the organization has supported him, I'm 100% rooting for him if he's on the team.

People still act like he is coming back, buy why? Has he even met with Goodell or anyone else in the last year to even apply for reinstatement?

Seems to me this guy is banned from the NFL and nobody told Browns fans yet.

If he was going to be reinstated this year it would have happened. It wouldn't have been denied in May. The guy just doesn't get it and I doubt he ever will. Marijuana obviously isn't as bad as beating your girlfriend which is a common hobby among NFL players, but it's still not currently allowed and he's too thick to grasp it. It's a shame because we gave him multiple chances and had he been able to keep his head clean he'd probably be a top 5 receiver in the NFL. I honestly think his ceiling could have been higher than Julio Jones.

I disagree that reinstatement would have already happened if it was going to. It was September 29th last year that Gordon checked into rehab. I don't think it's unreasonable for the league to at least expect a full year of sobriety before considering reinstatement. I understand the need for confidentiality from the league, but it's maddening to not ever really know that status. It's not even clear that Gordon himself knows what he specifically has to do to get reinstated, like it's some sort of parole hearing and if he doesn't give them the right version of Red's Shawshank Redemption 'Rehabilitated' speech they stamp it DENIED and tell him "come back in 6 months". If Gordon does know, he would be well served to put it out there rather than videos of him alienating his only fans.

I would hope Gordon breaking off routes and being a malcontent, etc, would likely be taken care of by Hue Jackson. If not, he's gone, simple as that. But 77 catches, 969 yards was the pro-rated production of the disinterested, malcontent Gordon of 2014. Give up on that kind of talent if he punches his girlfriend out in an elevstor, joins an anti-semitic hate group, or pees on the American flag, sure. But for substance abuse and being a general numbskull, I'm not holding grudges.

But I'm not holding my breath either.

The NFL is never going to reinstate someone that has broken the rules over and over and will just turn around and break the rules again and make them look like fools.

The NFL should be used to looking like fools by now. But seriously how does him screwing up again make *them* look like fools? They are entitled to give players as many chances as they like; it's the player who ends up the fool if he relapses. And in this case I have no doubt that they would just give him a permanent if he breaks the rules again.

But if the league has ALREADY permanently banned him, they absolutely have a responsibility to tell both Gordon and the public that this is the case.

It's like getting back with someone that has cheated on your multiple times. At some point you both look like fools.

Yes, but at the end of the day the NFL still gets to say they banged Josh Gordon again.

At this point, Gordon is your ex that's addicted to drugs, has no job and gained 100lbs.

Not true.

Gordon is in fantastic shape.

He is the ex that has no job, on drugs and looks hot. You know you shouldnt hook up again, but you are so tempted because she looks so good.
