Pre-Season Game 5 Cavs @ Magic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really like holland. Hope we see him in the regular season.

Probably will. He can come up for up to 45 days of NBA game or practice time while still being on the 2Way contract. Will probably come up here on the days we want to give one of the older wings(Wade, Korver, JR) a rest.

Alright, I'll chalk it up to preseason then or just the general poor state of the lower half of the EC.

Because their starting lineup losing the third qtr by 10+ pts at home to Calderon, Shump, Korver, Green, Ante doesn't exactly scream improved team to me.

Single game preseason sample isn't exactly much to go on. Chicago starters held their own with ours, but no one is expecting that to remain throughout the season.

They're pretty much the same team as last year, just they swapped out Green for Simmons and added Speights to the bench.

Hard to imagine them winning fewer games in an even worse EC.

I can't believe I'm watching Perk and Calderon vs Mo Speights in a preseason game.

Calderon player the entire 24 minutes of the second half, ran the offense, kept the Cavs from getting overly sloppy or overly ISO(except when Shump got the ball), moved well without the ball, and scored 18 points in the half(7 of 10 overall, 4 of 6 from 3P)

I wouldn’t say good. But he’s a professional.

Definitely, in the 1st half, playing with JR, Green, Korver, and TT, he stayed out of the way, kept the ball moving and didn't take a single shot away from anyone else.

In the second half, playing with a lot of the youngsters and guys like Perk/Hollins, he kept the offense steady and moving and took and made the open shots when they were there.

If this were a regular season game against a team like Orlando, Chicago, or Indiana and Rose or Wade needed a rest night, play like this out of Calderon helps us win a game against a bad team, keep our important PGs fresh, and makes sure we stay at/near the top of seeding/HCA.

He simply has more value on this team as the 3rd PG on a team with 2 PGs ahead him that have injury history than RJ does as a 9th wing, who has good chemistry/presence, but would barely play in rest games anyways and would play ahead of Cedi if he did, which most people don't want.

The move makes sense.

RJ helped close out the W’s In 2016. I will never forget.

Totally weird to see RJ and Felder on the bench during the game but aside from that, finally a win and by the bench!

Calderon looked good tonight.

I don't understand players like John Holland.

Players like him that hang on to their NBA dream just end up hurting themselves career wise, earning wise, etc.

He could have carved up a very nice career on top teams in Europe, but he preferred to play for D-League teams hoping some team would give him a chance.. but more often than not it doesn't work.

He did play in Europe for four years, probably made a decent amount of money. While he obviously could have made more and been over there for a while, he's going after his dream. Can you blame him?

NPR did a nice interview with him: http://www.npr.org/2016/05/19/478729116/for-john-holland-breaking-into-the-nba-came-down-to-one-shot
