Remaining 2016 Free Agents

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mother fuck.

Lance Stephenson just signed for the minimum and only 100k is guaranteed.

That would have been a good pick up.

Give me Norris Cole all day over Chalmers. I will be Okay with either as a extra body but Cole is kinda what we need. We already got a ton of shooters.

He was playing well before the injury, but yeah, I agree with you.

He can be a decent pickup.

He was playing well, but the thing he would be asked to do here he was still struggling with (his 3 point shooting)...I just really don't want to waste a roster spot on a 30 year old guard coming off an injury that usually saps your athleticism...and he didn't have much before the injury...

I get it would be a minimum contract most likely, and would be very low risk, but I still think we can find a better option, taking into account what that injury usually does to guys.

Really hoping the delay in signing JR is to keep his smaller cap hold in order to make a trade for a PG...I really like Shelvin Mack and feel like he's expendable in Utah with the Hill acquisition and Exum returning from injury, on top of them being high on Raul Neto.

Jarret Jack was just waived. I know we've all been through that one, but he may be a good fit now that this is a vet laden team. I don't know what his knee situation is, but I would think he'd be ready to go in a couple months.

I always liked Jack. Obviously as a starting PG on a young team he's not doing anything great, but on this team, he could give you solid minutes as 9th guys off the bench backing the Kyrie.

Ohh dear. Jarret Jack brings back the memories that I want to forget!

Interesting tidbits from Windy's podcast:

- Norris Cole is under contract in China for $1.7 million. He can't get out of it until March. Cleveland couldn't have offered him more than $1 million although Windhorst believes Cole would've liked to be here.

- Cleveland has been calling and staying in touch with Mario Chalmers every week. Chalmers believes himself to be about a month away [said three weeks ago]. Windhorst thinks he's being abit overly-optimistic about that deadline. Also said him and LeBron have a great working relationship. Apparently regardless of what happened in Miami. Would pay him a minimum.

I don't think they ever had a bad relationship in Miami (James and Chalmers), it was just that Chalmers would be the one to get chewed out when things went sideways.

We need to get Teodosic as our back up PG. I know it probably isn't possible but that would be sweet.

edit- found this too. Sounds like we may fit his criteria as one of the few teams that has what he is looking for. Hopefully we try to get him with an MLE or something this offseason. I'm not sure what kind of contract he will demand.

Milos Teodosic: "I want to feel that an NBA team knows my game, has a plan for me and can use me in a unit with real chemistry, while having high goals and being competitive. I want to win, to be motivated and to feel that the coaches and the organization trust me. It’s important when you play to have high goals. That’s what I’ve been doing since I was a kid, I was chasing championship titles. I want to go to the NBA and I know that I can establish myself there and really contribute. I will not sign anywhere just to be able to say that I played in the NBA. I need the whole package that will excite me. So it depends on what offers I get as a free agent and the way the teams approach and talk to me. Ιf I end up in the NBA, I just want to be able to be myself. The spaces on the court are bigger compared to Europe, traps on defense and hedge outs to guards are rare, while there are many great shooters and big men who can finish the pick and roll."

I wouldn't mind Chalmers as a late season pikcup for a playoff run. We don't really need a true backup PG in the playoffs. I would, however, like to find a decent option for the regular season to simply limit LeBron and Kyrie's minutes as much as possible. I don't think sitting them both at the same time is a good idea in the post season, but I wouldn't mind doing it in the regular season if we could find someone competent to run the show.

Teodosic will probably look for 10m or more.

10 million... a year? Good luck with that. I highly doubt any NBA team is going to give that to someone who has never played in the NBA. He will also be turning 30. And by the sounds of it, he wants to go to a contender. If you mean 10 million total, I would agree and I'm pretty sure we can swing it with an MLE if we give him multiple years.

Almost all the rosters in the league are set with their franchise PG or focused on developing one. So the way he talked, it seemed like he is willing to be a backup for a contender only (unless he thinks he will start for one?). And the main contenders are Cavs, Spurs, and Warriors. As of right now, Spurs and Warriors have a very solid back up PG. However, we happen to have a very open spot at back up PG since Delly is gone. If circumstances are the same this offseason, seems like a no brainer.

That being said, Livingston and Patty Mills are both expiring this year. So if they aren't retained, those teams may also have an opening at back up PG. I'm sure the Spurs will try hard to retain Mills, although it is possible a team throws a big contract at him that Spurs don't want to match. Same goes with Livingston I guess. We will see what happens.

Hawks waived that 7-5 aircraft carrier Walter Tavares. I assume he wants to go somewhere that gave him more playing time, but he's just the kind of young project that the Cavs should be focused on imo
