Remaining 2016 Free Agents

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Even if you assume James Jones returns (as well as LeBron and JR, of course), and Felder and McRae make the roster, that still leaves the 15th roster spot open.

FWIW, last year James Jones signed on July 25th. (Chris Haynes first reported the agreement on July 23rd.)

McRae's salary doesn't become fully guaranteed till Jan 10th (source: BasketballInsiders). If they want to free up a roster spot they can cut or trade him by then. Or do what they did last year with Jared Cunningham (who was their "15th man") and keep him past the guarantee deadline, and maybe later move him at the trade deadlline or simply waive him if they need his roster spot.

So I suspect that they plan to add one more player. Doesn't necessarily have to be via free agency though. Could be via a small trade (similar to Dunleavy trade).

Dahntay Jones' contract becomes guaranteed on Aug 1st.

It's a long shot, but Liggins may also be in the mix to make the roster if he performs well during training camp.

I was listening to the Lowe post podcast, Marc Stein and Zack Lowe talked about Lance Stephenson. Stein said he has heard basically nothing about teams wanting him, only had his name come up 3 time during all of July. Lowe basically agreed that Lance will most likely end up having to take vet minimum if wants to play in the NBA this season. They went on to say that he might even have to wait till someone gets injured during the season before someone picks him up.

He did it to himself. He was the Ricky Davis type who always thought he was the best player in the game or on the court with no results. Like this guy is one of the worst head cases in the game. This is the path Waiters is already gone down as we speak. Waiters has never been paid that contract like Lance has. However now and days teams can see that talent to mind ratio and in the NBA and two potential great players here because they could not get it together. In the NBA you can not just take what you are good at and become a solid player on your athletics alone.

I brought Dion in as a young example so with that said Grant was a moron and unless these types of players want to learn more and understand the game and lower the ego there is a place. Dion might do that with the Heat and I hope he does. However that said Lance is like Gordon... he can always say he is better and ready but ends up in the same shit.

Okafor had been putting up good to above average per36 numbers all the way up until the last season he's played.

Still, he's 34 and hasn't played in three seasons. There's no way he'll be as effective as he was back in the day, and I'd rather look at a younger, less-injury prone option as a fifth big man.

I heard once Tebow flames out in the MLB, his next dream is the NBA.

I'd hold out for that.

Another PG musical chairs domino

LeBron connected Cole and Chalmers both still out there. While either could end up in Europe/China or with another team, I think it's likely one of these two end up with the Cavs by the start of training camp.
