The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Given how Varys always seemed to find out everything, I think Ned's refusal to tell anyone who didn't already know (which was basically just Howland Reed, right?) was justifiable given the consequences if someone found out. Imagine Robert finds out that Ned has been hiding Rhaegar's son for over a decade. Robert isn't simply going to just execute Jon. It's going to mean another war, and Ned clearly was trying to do everything he could to avoid that outcome.

Yeah it makes sense. Weird how cautious Ned was then, but then goes straight to Cersei to tell her what he knows about her.

Also, why is Arthur Dane protecting Lyanna Stark from getting medical attention in the Tower of Joy. I mean I get Rhaegar didn't want anyone to "rescue" her, but if she is bleeding to death up there, what is the point of the fight. Maybe it is better explained in the books, I am only 1/4 of the way through book 2

Well he's protecting their child, cause at this point the Mountain has already killed Rhaegars other children and been pardoned by Robert for it. So they know if he finds out about the child, he'll have him killed. And considering Ned is Robert's best friend, I get it.

I think it may not bother Danys. I think it is going to bother Jon a lot. She'll give him the "but the Targaeryens did it, and you're a Targaeryen!" And he'll say...."No.

"I'm a Stark."

I...very much doubt it. The boy who has refused to be called a Stark for the entire series is suddenly, now, going to call himself a Stark.

Nah.

Like he may have a hiccup about it, but we have 6 episodes and at least two massive, massive battles. We just don't have the time for a major introspective Who Am I angst fest.

Half of what I guess will happen next season is based on time allotment. Considering what we know most likely will and must happen, do we have time for this Other thing?

Well, he didn't figure on Robert being murdered, which is still pretty much a longshot. Sure, you give the King too much to drink, but betting on that being enough for a boar to kill him on a hunt is pretty risky.

Yea, this is the type of thing I'm talking about and why I'm ok with "fan service." Because every little scheme that was the longest of long shots went the bad guys way for most of the series.

And that's one example. What a break for Cersei, it playing out so well.

Btw I agree with Cavatt on Ned a little. The fact that he remained best friends with Robert after 1) He pardoned the Mountain 2) Finding out he whored around while betrothed to his sister and then 3) FOund out Lyanna, in fact, was not kidnapped and just hated Robert and ran off with Rhaegar.

I know they had a falling out for a while, but then he was his good old pal again. Eh...Ned takes a hit for that one.

If I recall, didn't she basically admit that, had the boar not killed Robert, he would have fallen from his horse, or some other mishap would befall him? Seemed like he wasn't coming back from that hunt regardless.

I look forward to Stannis being resurrected and claiming the Iron Throne.

Or I guess at this point you could just have him survive in the North since he's not even fucking dead in the books yet. :chuckle:

The newest theory is that Stannis survived and will actually lead the Golden Company to Westeros as he hired them prior to his attack on Winterfell.

It was worse than just confirming it won't be out in 2018. He compared his works to unfinished works by Fitzgerald and Dickens, how they, too, probably thought they'd get those books finished before they died...but they didn't.

So, he says he plans on finishing, but you never know, cause other famous authors planned on finishing things too and didn't manage.

ARE YOU GUYS GETTING SUPER PUMPED FOR THE NEARING OF THE RELEASE OF WHATEVER THIS TARGARYEN BOOK IS?!?!?!?!
