Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So much stupidity.

Who cares.

There is no Kardashian jinx beyond the hours of time regular people spend wasting paying attention to and gossiping about the scripted lives of rich people who care less about them.

Any of you want to act like if you were a famous athlete or musician or just generally made 8 figures per year you'd be dating regular girls from the block?

I'd be dating someone hotter than Khloe Kardashian and with less baggage, that's for sure.

I still think Cavs fan underrate Tristan. At the very least, it's fair to say that writers and analysts certainly view him much more favorably than many on this board do. For example, in this year's list of best players in the NBA, Sports Illustrated ranked Tristan Thompson as the 52nd best player in the NBA. ESPN ranked him 72nd on its list. SBNation placed Tristan as the 68th best player on its list.

I get it - he was horrible in this past Finals. Steph Curry literally outrebounded him, which is just sad. It's not easy to overlook what's so fresh in our memories. But it is also incontrovertible that Tristan Thompson has been an imposing menace in three straight eastern conference playoffs. He has made Al Horford look like he can't play basketball year after year and broken the will of Eastern Conference opponents by getting crucial offensive boards at critical moments. Tristan was also a major factor in the 2015 NBA Finals in helping a depleted Cavs squad get two wins against an overwhelmingly favored Warriors team. Most importantly, he was unquestionably the third best Cavs player in the 2016 NBA Finals, in which the Cavs upset a 73 win Warriors team.

He is a flawed player, but he brings a lot of positives. He doesn't complain about touches or minutes. He does the dirty work. He is an elite offensive rebounder that has to be gameplanned for. And he is one of the few plus defenders holding the fort for a Cavs roster that has been loaded with minus defenders. In short, he is the perfect complementary player for a Cavs roster that already has plenty of offensive firepower.

His jump shot with time running out has always been money which is amazing for a guy who has zero confidence on the offensive end. Could be a mental thing or the coaches not having any confidence in him. This is a big year for some of the guys who signed (sans Wade) but add TT to the list of players who have a lot to prove after his shambolic performance in the finals.

TT is much better defensively when he doesn't have to do everything. Perimeter d is going to improve and he will look much much better

"I'm going to go for Sixth Man of the Year, put myself in position to do that," Thompson said after the scrimmage. "Just play hard, though. I'm not going to look too much into it, but if you're going to come off the bench, might as well have a little goal -- and I feel like with the second unit we have and the energy that I bring off the bench, I'll put myself in pretty good position. Especially when you win."

Thompson, 26, accepted Lue's decision in stride.

"It was fine," he said. "I definitely knew where T-Lue was coming from and it was definitely tough, I could see when I was talking to him, but I told him I'm one guy you don't have to worry about. I'm a team-first guy. I understand that at the end of the day it's about winning and if you win, we all look good -- whether you come off the bench or you start. And it's not about who starts the game, it's about who is in the game in the fourth and who is finishing it. So, I'm not worried. The last time I came off the bench, if history repeats itself, we had a parade in June. So, I'll take it."

Kinda hoping Wade wins that award (assuming he's coming off the bench)

He is a problem. Part of the reason our offense is so stagnant is because everytime we run something off the ball the other team switches and put the smaller guy on Thompson. It's pathetic.
GSW will do that every time and our lack of Iso scorers on the roster will get exposed.

We need a big that is able to take advantage of a mismatch. You have to make the other team make tough decisions on the fly to create chaos. Switching is automatic when Thompson is on the floor and as a result we can't create good looks at all.

A big that is just average to above average on the block can do all the difference. Thompson is getting exposed hard right now and Lue even harder.

His contests at the rim are also what you'd expect from a guard ie uses the wrong hand, jumps too late, little shotblocking instinct yet chooses to go for whiffed block attempts instead of going vertical. Love might actually be better at verticality than TT when he tries

I don’t understand what happened to his defensive ability

Zizic is already better than this guy,,way better offensively. Cavs play 4 on 5 every offensive possession.
At some point tough decisions will have to be made. Is Lue up to making them?
