I think too many people are getting caught up with the concept of Rose as a starter. With or without Kyrie, Rose starting doesn't mean he can't run our 2nd unit. Point guards in today's NBA are usually able to play off the ball and we rarely use the words "combo guard" anymore because the vast majority of point guards are combo guards.

If it's Kyrie or a point guard we trade for, both Rose and the other PG can start. One can rotate out early to then come back to run the second unit. They can both play 30-32 minutes a game, especially if we move Shump. Most players on this team can play multiple positions and backup point was a hole last year. Having two point guards that are capable and possible demand to start isn't a bad thing, it will let LeBron reduce his minutes in the regular season.

Really? It has nothing to do with that. He played decent last year but the knicks were shit so the dude right now is taking a minimum to prove himself.

This is the perfect team to prove yourself as everything is under a microscope due to bron. If he contributes whether he starts or not, he'll get more attention here compared to the lakers or knicks..

If Rose wasnt comming off an injury, no way we get him at this price point. Its a major addition for a cap strapped team. He is not near the same athlete as mvp Rose but he still has a quick burst and is good at finishing at the rim. Within the last year or two I've seen him blow by Kyries defense and tear the Cavs up at the rim. He is still only 28.
We have to limit his minutes though, big time. Have to stay healthy.

Ok so I literally just got online and the news was broke to me. Interesting. I was intrigued with him as a backup. Now let's see if they can get a PG in a haul for KI and I will be once again intrigued when he is for sure the backup. Kind of iffy on if he is effective as a starter.

Rose doesn't help vs GS either. Why not see if you can bring in an All-Star PG as part of the return for Irving? Why limit yourself in what you can get back? Do they have an understanding that depending on what we get back he could move to the bench?

I was watching a Knicks vs Warriors game from last year and Rose was killing it. Curry couldn't stop him.

If he signed this 2.1 deal he wants to get to the NBA finals and try to win it. If we gey healthy motivated Rose who can do what he did when he tried or cared last year this is a great move.

really wish I trusted Lue to do this with DRose or anyone else. The stretch going into the playoffs last year was jaw-dropping in terms of minutes for our top players.

i am really excited by the rose signing. Yea hes not the player he was and wont reach that level again however dont underestimate the difference an environment makes.

Rose had huge injury problems at chitown, couldnt get near a court and that is devestatingly frustrating for proffessional athletes, then there is the criticism that came by some saying he was refusing to play despite dr reccommendations.

He then went to the knicks, who are the knicks.

Coming here and playing with lebron will be a massive change to what hes been used to the past 4 years.. im tipping he turns back the clock and plays strong for us all year.

Plus he is dirt cheap..low risk for massive reward
