Your 2018 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It should be interesting to see who makes the opening day roster in the outfield. The Indians have the following options:

Michael Brantley
Bradley Zimmer
Lonnie Chisenhall
Brandon Guyer
Rajai Davis
Melvin Upton Jr.
Abraham Almonte
Greg Allen
Tyler Naquin

From those, Allen, Naquin, and Almonte seem destined for Columbus.

I think one of Davis/Upton makes the team initially. Brantley and Guyer are the obvious questions marks due to health.

If MM can be had in the “cheap”, then I go for it and if it isn’t working out or Yandy shows more during the first part of the year, let MM go.
With that said, he won’t be cheap to get and I agree, roll with Yandy and let him grow.

Yandy really isn’t even in the picture to start, it seems.

Ramirez will be playing 3B I would assume, until something changes.

I also don’t want to wildly overrate Yandy based on batting average like some sort of ...

Nvm.

Chiz, Zimmer and Upton would be my guess with Brantley snd Guyer not being ready yet.

Brantley isn't going to be healthy I wouldn't think, so I think it'll go:

LF - Davis
CF - Zimmer / Allen
RF - Chisenhall / Guyer

Almonte could make it over Rajai if he's washed up.

I think Upton is going to get cut and Naquin will be in CBus.

Has Yandy ever played corner outfield? I have no clue what his fielding profile is.

Yes, he’s played both corner spots.

He’s not particularly adept at any position, but over time he can absolutely develop into a guy who isn’t a concern.

Oh, I get it. His name's supposed to be ironic.

I don't see anything ironic about the name Rajai Davis.

I'll happily take Davis as 4th OFer. Also would love Dickerson, although I'd be shocked if he isn't traded before he sees FA.

Despite what Francona and the media will have you believe, Diaz is an excellent defensive third baseman. In the minor leagues, Diaz won defensive player of the year as voted by the managers not once , but twice, something Urshella never did. Diaz had a higher fielding percentage last season as a third baseman over Urshella. He is also much more athletic than Gio is. Why Tito layed Urshella over Yandy in the playoffs last eason was as dumb as it gets.

With all that said, Yandy is a terrible defensive outfielder who can make Tyler Naquin look like Willie Mays out there..

Urshela is the better glove, and the knock on Diaz isn’t the potential to be solid defensively, it was the inconsistency over at 3rd that is the issue. In due time he could be above average there, but Urshela by far is the better glove.

I mean I think they will play Diaz some in the OF in spring training. If Brantley and Guyer aren’t ready to go, we need another capable bat in the lineup and if he can show to even be average out there then he is a better hitter than our other options. The bench spot we will fine to be able to fill with who we have. It will be The starting production we gotta find a replacement for.

How much money you want to put on that slick? You're problem is that you don't know how to use a google button apparently. Diaz won defensive player of the year twice in the minor leagues. Deal with it.

You act like you know it all and in actuality you know very little.
